I always found it funny that the same people who praise the 360 this late in the game with its milestones, are the same exact people who are saying "so what" when Sony fans celebrate its milestones.  Quite hypocritical.  What's sad is I see WAY more Sony guys offering congrats to MS for their accomplishments, than I see MS guys offering it to Sony.  Most of the time it just the "so what" or "who cares" or "Sony's still doomed."  Idk, maybe its because they hate seeing MS come in 3rd, down from the 2nd place from last gen, regardless of how much ground its gained this gen.

I also don't get people who say that people who care about any of these milestones are "sad persons."  It's really no different to rooting for a sports team.  Except this time, that team is providing you with a personal service.  So I guess if you like sports, and support a specific team, you are also a sad person. 

Hey, now, you don't have to be that harsh.  Sure, the 360 was allowed to get away with the RRoD misstep, but that's no reason to go after the fanbase!

As for the rest of what you said, I kind of agree.  Finishing "1st, 2nd, and 3rd" isn't necessarily that big of a deal.  The 360 and PS3 are virtually tied in terms of units sold.   However, from a business standpoint, the PS3 passing the 360 will be somewhat interesting given the 360's headstart of a full year.  That tells me that the PS3's sales rate has been significantly higher during its life-cycle, which actually is an important point.  Sales rate is something that most people on a sales-centric forum would be concerned with.

Also, not sure why you'd make a baiting post and then talk about harmony.  Seems kind of odd.

PS3/Sony was and still is ridiculed harshly for it's ridiculous launch/network hack/some poor selling exlusives etc. Most of which deserved, some of which isn't. Point is, PS doesn't "get away" with much.

I think the fact that PS3 will surpass 360 itself isn't that important, its what it means that gets people mad. It means the Playstation brand is still strong and once it surpasses the 360...it means its stronger. It also means that next-gen Sony has the chance to take the lead much earlier since the Playstation brand has recovered.

(No, Playstation Vita isn't any indication of the strength of the Playstation brand)

To me it was never about "if" it would outsell the 360, as it has been consistently since it's placement on the market when you factor time. It was only a matter of when, and I think 2014 may be it because the 720 will more then likely come out, and as you can see the 360 is losing that holiday advantage that kept it in the game.

I don't think you can judge brand by straight sales of a single gen.  To me the Playstation brand has shown its strength all gen by being SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive (especially at first as it was %50 more) and being a year late.  Either one of those mistakes would mean death for the Xbox.  Not to mention the difficult architecture and no system sellers till 08 with MGS4.  Luckily for PS they have future-proofed themselves with all their exclusives this gen pretty much being first party (Uncharted, Heavy Rain, GoW, GT, Infamous, Sly, LoU, Warhawk, Killzone, etc.) so they don't have to worry about losing them to MS (DMC, MGS, GTA, FF, and a few others went this route this gen and it resulted in a lot of good buzz for MS)
