Translation:

Wonderbook: the book of spells is still a bestseller in Iberia (Portugal and Spain ).According to figures provided by GFK the Playstation 3 exclusive game has sold 54,000 units, counting packs with the Playstation 3 500 gigabytes, the best selling console of Christmas in Spain according to GfK, one of the largest market research institutes.

More than ten thousand people have been during the month of December

wait wait wait.

54k with bundles in Spain AND Portugal. And it was the best selling console in Spain this xmas.

So the best selling console in Spain sold 54k

- consoles sold in Portugal
- standalone software in Portugal
- standalone software in Spain

So at the end of the day we are looking at 20k max for the most popular console SKU. Maybe 45 - 50k for the PS3 and even less for XBox 360 / Wii U.

Damn those 25% unemployment rate is killing Spain.

Not exactly that. It says that wonderbook has sold 54K between bundles with new PS3s and separated units. It doesn't mean that the PS3 has sold ~50K units in total, there are a lot of different bundles (but the most prominent one may be wonderbook one) That article says nothing of the total number of PS3s sold.

It's been out what? 7 weeks, it's a holiday child focused title. It's been poor in the UK, and mediocre at best globally.

It probably is a slow burner.. and i think over all sales are quite encouraging. should reach to a million.

In UK also its been continuously on chart between 20 - 30. and i think its pretty impressive for a PS3 title. Normally PS3 exclusves dont stay on chart for so long. like LBP karting, PSABR, even i think Infamous didnt stayed that long.

But you can get there. Or get a good estimation for it.

The bundle with wonderbook was the best selling console SKU in Spain. It sold 54k including standalone software in Spain and Portugal combined. A 25 / 75 split between Portugal and Spain is reasonable IMO.

54k * 0.75 = 40k for Wonderbook in Spain
40k - Standalone software for 7 weeks (!!!) = 25k - 30k for the best selling console SKU this Xmas. Let's say the other PS3 SKUs sold 15 - 20k and you get the number I mentioned above. And of course 360 and Wii U are still lower than that.

IMO these are not good, decent or excellent sales. This is just bad.

Wow!!!
I think no-one expected that. Sales have been increasing as the weeks pass. I was expecting ~50k sales WW in this year. It was a flop in my eyes, but it's doing better and better.

Plus, the software must be very cheap to produce... so I think they are gaining some money from this.

I wonder if there is a possibility that we have it undertracked here for EU. I mean we have it ~150K for all of EU, yet they are saying it is 54K for just two countries in EU. Either way, its pretty impressive that the highest selling console was also the most expensive. The 500GB PS3 w/ Wonderbook. And I definitely think Wonderbook is going to be one of those slow burners. 1M+ is very possible.

I am not sure about the rest of the World, but here in the UK Sony bombard the TV with Wonder Book adverts.

the europe numbers are only till 16th december here at vgc. it sold ~45k that week and the week before. no clue for which time the gfk numbers are but i think we could easily add 50k or more to the 150k which makes it at least 200k+ here at vgchartz and probaly more.

Well, after ehat I saw in E3 I thought that was a sure flop. Here in Mexico I've seen Wonder book being popular in stores... but I haven't seen any ads.

Anyway, I was expecting a massive flop, and the game has at least been mediocre... let's see if it has legs or if it dissapears after the holydays.

theres a lot of kids out there people. vgchartz doesnt represent all of the ps3 userbase.
