Not always. A month ago, my cousin asked me for some game recomendation. I told him it depended on what type of game he likes. He told me he liked FPS's. I'm not a huge fps fan and I told him. I then told him that I have'nt played any of these games but when it comes to this year's fps games, Borderlands2 and Far Cry 3 seems to be both the most interesting. I then warned him that to enjoy both games, it's mainly about the campaign and the story and not about getting killstreaks online like in CoD,

Then 2 weeks later, I bought Borderlands for my lil brother and he is loving it. I watched him play and it looks fun, I'll try it eventualy.

Moral of story is, if someone asks me a specific genre that is usualy not my type of game, I warn him and tell him that those are not my cup of tea. But despite that, I read enough things on the internet to recomend something.

I must've at least play a portion, (Demo or playing bits of actual game, etc) before recommending it others.

Yes but  they have to ask me then I give my full opinion on it, I don't try to make them buy the game because if they hate it they're come blame me. Also 'cause they would of wasted their money on a game they don't want.

Never ever. Has anyone actually done this?

Yay!!!

I usually play a game before recommending it.

I barely ever recommend games anyway.

Though I could use this in the future... Tell someone to buy a game because its good (without owning it) and then asking to borrow because you "lost" your copy. Pretty dastardly plan if you'd ask me.

I play a game before I recommend it, although I don't necessarily own it. I voted usually because some that I recommend I own, some I recommend I don't but I've played.

I don't. If I recommend a game, it's because I own it and I've played it.

I see you figured it out. You don't have to admit to it.

We all are probably guilty of hyping a game before it's even released. Usually, I own something and I'm either playing it and really enjoying it or I beat the campaign before I recommend something.
