This is actually Neoclassical, it's based on the classic Greek and Roman architecture styles, not Colonial. 

However, to call it colonial era architecture would be generous, as both design and construction began in 1792.  The 19th century (1800s) were the end of the colonial era.  So while technically correct, you're skating in by the short hairs.  Nevertheless, neither were occupied until 1801 and 1800 respectively. 

That was an awful lot of work to say "1/5, do more research next time."

I do think it will be a better thing in the long run if we allow the subsidies to expire, because then we can have a more productive debate about which subsidies really need to stay and which ones are better left expired.

Even if we wiped out subsidies to the Dept of Ag, that's like maybe .5% of our problem. It's merely a microscopic blip on the radar that is our ridiculous, insane spending.

Those two should be the easiest things to get rid of.  Along with foreign aid and farm subsidies.

Planned Parenthood provides an essential national healthcare function. Its services have to exist in some form or other on a purely lifesaving basis.

PBS/NPR are nonessential, agreed, but represent a tiny amount of government spending and indeed government funding is only a small source of their funding (they wouldn't go away if funding was cut). There are certainly better cutting targets than this.

What we can 'start' with is the defence budget. Cutting everything nonessential to the defence of the 50 states and their citizens should save at least 10% of ALL US expenditure.

I applaud the govt for this, myself and my dad were discussing how unnecessary farm subsidies are over the holidays.

Planned Parenthood is a teriffic investment, and it's a shame that they can't get abortion funding. Reproductive advancement is one of the quickest ways to advance a society.
