Forums - Gaming Discussion - oh my god. 95 % - the best rpg on this generation, its coming.

Yes it does, seeing as it was released on the DS/PSP. That game would not be considered the best rpg of that generation seeing as how it's age didn't hold over well. Persona 4 Golden was released on the Vita, which is a current generation console, and it is also one of the best reviewed games on the system and for JRPGs in general.

That's in your opinion. FF6 has aged just fine for me and I'd rather play that than almost any other rpg.

Chrono Trigger was released on the DS when it was a current generation system. It was also highly reviewed and is considered one of the best jrpgs in general, that doesn't change the fact that it was the same game as the SNES one with some extra stuff added in.

P4 Golden doesn't even look all that different from P4. Basically a PS2 game ported to the Vita with a few enhancements. That still doesn't make it a current generation game.

Metal Gear Solid 2/3 were ported to the PS3/360/Vita and MGS3 to the 3DS. Does that make them current generation games?

I'd include P4 as part of this gen. It did come out in 2008 after all.

Looking foward to Ni No Kuni but concerned it may be style over substance.

Hmm, yes, I was under the assumption that what I said was an opinion, there was no need to actually state it. I was only answering your question. Seems somewhat redundant to say "in my opinion" when what ever anyone says on the internet is an opinion, but that's beside the point.

Either way, I still believe Persona 4 Golden is a part of this generation and you don't. That settles that. It's kind of like trying to convince someone who doesn't like cartoons that anime is awesome, it's pretty difficult to change their opinion on the subject.

Since going further than this would be even more offtopic I see no reason to actually continue.

On topic: I think Nino Kuni will be a moderate success in the West, at least to the JRPG fans. I've only heard good things about this game. I think there was another game with a similar concept/art direction, Toki to Towa I believe it was called, but the gameplay/combat was a lot different. If both are successes, I believe JRPGs have a bright future ahead of them.

Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward = best game ever made.

Either Skyrim or Mass Effect 2 are the best RPG game this generation.

Has this gen been so sad that a open world dragon fighter and a third person shooter are now considered best rpgs?

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

How can you say its the best RPG of this generation without having even played it yet?

Hype much and expectation much leads to disappointment much.

It was released a month ago on the Vita so its this gen. Persona 4 was released during this gen as well but on a previous gen console so I'm not even sure how to interpret that.

Final Fantasy VI was released on the GBA in 2006/2007 (JP/US) does that make it part of the DS/PSP generation?

its a remake of the original game not a port and with added features and tweaks specifically designed for the device. its also the highest rated game of 2012

Persona 3 Portable was also a "remake" of the original Persona 3/P3 FES with added features and tweaks specifically for the PSP. Does that make it a new game? They had to change quite a bit to make P3P on the PSP. I'd say there are more differences between P3/P3P vs P4/P4G. Persona 4 Golden actually looks a lot like P4 from the screenshots I've seen of Golden.

(I have P3 FES and P4 on the PS2 and P3P on the PSP.)

Yes..P4G is superior than the original version. Now back to Ni No Kuni.
