Adjusting the WiiU screen is already part of the setup... I did it on day when it was released. Take a look in the settings.

In settings I see

TV Connection Type

TV Resolution

Aspect Ratio

TV Audio-Ouput Type

There isn't an option to move the screen around.

You don't need to move the screen around.
Maybe in TV resolution you have an option to display 'dot by dot', or 'pixel to pixel' or 'native'

I have the opposite problem, certain apps and the whole Wii BC emulation have black borders all around. Not big enough to use the zoom function on the tv, just big enough to be annoying.
I have the choice of dot by dot, smart stretch, stretch and zoom. smart stretch and stretch only stretch horizontally and zoom is for 16:9 content in a 4:3 frame. The Wii emulation and some apps have 1/3rd the size of 16:9 borders all around.

Ah I just remembered these posts at launch.

He returned his Wii U cause it wouldn't auto center on his TV.

This still isn't patched? I know a lot of people were having this problem at launch, including a writer at one of the review sites. It's an oversight by Nintendo that needs to be corrected, and I agree, it should have been corrected before Christmas.

Some television models simply don't have the necessary options to make the Wii U compatible. And no, it's not reasonable to suggest that people throw out working TVs so they can use your product. This likely caused a lot of headaches on Christmas morning with people trying to figure out the problem.

It is a minor issue I have with Wii U is there is not an Auto-Adjust for its screen or the time to match the atomic clock. Minor, yet but irksome nonetheless. In any case, you do have to adjust the screen size for Wii U under eShop and MiiVerse settings. It should help ease this overscanning issues.

You can fix that in the menu i already fixed mine

Another thread from a person that has not the slightest knowledge about what he is writing ...

I can assure you, I know what I am talking about. Do you really think that kids or daddy and mommy will go dig very deep in their Tv settings (if they even know how to and if their tv even allows them to) or just go buy a new 600-1000$ TV just for a WIIU? A lot of these people will think that it's their wiiU that has a technical problem in the first place and probably will go return it.

Buy a new TV this has nothing to do with Nintendo.

Did you even read my post? I guess not, go read and comment again. Because I don't even have that problem.

Ever since it launched, a lot of people have noticed parts of the left and right of the screen missing. We all know this is a Tv problem but Nintendo should of stayed in that "safe zone" because on chrismast, a lot of kids will be opening their wiiU and they will be seeing a missing part of the picture on their screen and they will simply put the wii u back in it's box and just return it. I wouldn't be surprised if there has already been thousands of returns because of this.

It is definetly possible to fix it by an update allowing you to adjust your screen size, but how long will it take them to release it?

PS: I am not having this problem, I do know a lot of people irl and online who are having this problem.

I have this problem with my wii u, but isnt a big deal since it is only in the home screens that have the issue, and i can just look at the gamepad.  Its a problem that has been overblown by internet haters and not actually a big deal.

This totally irks me that Nintendo could not have an auto-adjust for its screen or its time. However, I have found the screen size option to be under the eShop setting as well as the Miiverse settings. This seems to have done the trick for me.
