Forums - Politics Discussion - Has the word "Terrorist" Completey Associated itself with the Islamic Faith

Well, remember the 2011 Norway attacks? The man who did them was Anders Behring Breivik, and he was a right wing extremist and his attacks were politically motivated, yet, the media never referred to him as a terrorist. So this just proves, that these days, the media only refers to Muslim people as "terrorists".

I saw him referred to as a terrorist countless times ...

Edit: as a demonstration: http://www.google.ca/search?q=norway+terrorist

It is such a common association that Anders Brevik is the #1 response from google; even though there have been other (more recent) terrorist stories in Norway ( http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/norwegian-jihadist-terror-suspect-plotting-blow-u-s-plane-report-article-1.1105916)

Now they do, but when the that attack just happened, none of the major news channels - BBC, CNN, referred to him as a terrorist.

A quick look at the references on the Wikipedia page reveals no shortage of references to terror, most within a week of the attacks; and here are three CNN articles (also from within a week of the attack) that refer to it as a terrorist act.

He was always referred to as a terrorist...

So hyped for Rome 2: Total War

Terrorists extend beyond the middle east, to North Africa, Eastern Europe and the Pacific Islands. Anywhere there are Muslim extremists, there are most likely terrorists in the making. They believe they are fighting a holy war and they will be rewarded in the after life.

Too bad people associate "terrorist" with a region or a specific group of people...

Not all Arabs are Muslims
Not all Muslims are Arab
Not all Arabs are terrorists
Not all terrorists are Muslims

Well the shooters are certainly by definition terrorists, but I think when people think terrorist they think bombs, planes, etc. which are the methods preferred by Islamic terrorists. I don't think the general public would consider a guy with a gun as a terrorist.

So my point is I don't think only someone Islamic can be considered a terrorist...but I think something huge like a bomb or plane crash has to be used for it to be widely considered terrorism.

for the US perhaps

for Europe it depends on the region

being half Spanish half French terrorism rhymes with ETA (=basque separatists)

their actions account for 480 out of the 500 terrorists acts we had in EUROPE per year until their organization started dying three years ago.

I remember when they tried to paint pot smokers that buy weed as people that support terrorist (money to drug cartels) with anti marijuana TV ads. Too bad most of the high grade weed is grown in USA and not Mexico. Mexico is mainly where the schwag comes from.  So support the USA and buy high grade weed.  Edit - apparently the video is about all drugs not just marijuana.
