Did I call it a failure?  No I did not.  A flop can be measured in many different ways and when you sell below expectations, along with dissapointing fans and critics a like it will be considered as flopping.  If you measure it in profits that is fine, but they just hurt their reputation and had to lower their predictions which means stocks will go down.  So this hurts their future in other words.  As someone else stated expectation do mean a lot because you are promising your investors that is how much you will make.  Business, business, business.

I'm going to use sports terminology actually.  Let's use Michael Vick off of the Philladelphia Eagles for example (American Football).  The Eagles paid him 100m dollars to play as the QB correct?  That is an investment that says we expect a superbowl from you.  His first year he gets them to the playoffs but loses in the first round.  He lost support for that game.  Next year he had some good games and some bad games but overall he was not worth the 100 million no matter what because they expected a superbowl from him so he was considered a flop because he played below expectations.  Does that make sense now? Many things can be considered a flop from different angles, not just one.

The 7 million target was just preposterous given the competition in shooters/action games this year. Wouldn't call it a flop though because of the strong launch.

Wrong. If you want to make an analogy it has to be in the entertainment business, you wanna talk about movies, not athletes.

I just started the game and am enjoying it so far but would not have bought this game unless I got a sick deal on it, paid $15.

I had $20 coupon off a used game at Gamestop, and that had it on sale for like $38 plus got 10% off for being a rewards member.  Was trying to decide between this and Hitman which would have been the same price but not really into stealth games.

Well that is a hell of a deal.  I'd buy it for 15 and I dont even like Resident Evil games. I f iwas to buy one though, id get 5 or revelations probably.
