Yeah, chances are they get announced before it.

Yeah I remember hearing that as well a few months back.  Not really sure why they dont want to though.  CES is a pretty cool event for all electronics.

Yup... good thread jay. They'll definitely be announced before E3. They don't even need major events like CES to announce them nowadays, social media will go a LONG way.

I would say E3 is when consoles are announced mainstream and made public.

I'm guessing E3 is when we get a big blowout of information about the consoles. 

I'm too young to remember, so could anyone older tell me what MS/Sony's previous announcements were like. Was it more just them confirming it existed, and then you had to wait until E3 for real info to surface, or did they announce specs, games etc.?

hm.. the pure announcement is a pretty dull afair, what I want is game trailers, release date and pricing and I doubt we get all of those prior to E3 *sigh*

Ces would be a good idea.
In germany nearly all tv news shows report about the newest tech at ces or ifa. No idea how much public attention these events get somewhere else but its a good opportunity to build hype from the beginning.

Yep all things hinting at a pre E3 reveal as well. I wouldn't be surprised if sony announces a new PS Meeting and have it within 2-3 weeks of it's announcement. Exciting times ahead for us gamers. Been hearing promising things about the xbox as well.

I think Microsoft tried it with the 360 slim. All there was were some job listings and hints if I'm not mistaken and the real reveal was at E3. I kind of liked how they put that on in their "show".

I'm pretty sure that the PS3 was launched in May 2005 like you said but it was at E3. Either way we'll be looking towards E3 for the info because we already know it's coming.
