Well I'm glad to see some people doing this.  Their is some really good posters on vgchartz and I'll consider you one. 

As far as the Vita it depends on what games are announced along with memory card pricing and a price cut.  I don't know if they are financially able to drop the price though.  So it really dpends on what they announce coming next year before I make a choice on that.  If they release a metal gear solid, gran turismo, monster hunters, final fantasy, or any kind of big hitter wether it is in the U.S., Europe, or Japan you could see some spikes throughout the year.  However they can't just rely on 1 game to do this.  I think it all comes down to strategicly bringing big games to different territories next year to see the Vita successful next year.

Say if they release Gran Turismo for it then itll have a spike in Europe mainly.  A Metal Gear Solid will help it spike in America, and Monster Hunters or Final Fantasy will help it in Japan.  Who knows what they have in store though

Thanks i try to get people discussing things daily to keep everyone with everyone else's thoughts.

I agree with Japan, Thats whats hurting the vita the most at the moment with terrible sales weekly. Whats hurting this the most is most developers still on psp. Its fine to do this but not that much, a FF or MH will be great but they dont seem to want to add those to the vita yet, and that it doesn't support vita games is also a let down.
I dont kno too much about specs but this is stupid that they didn't include backward compatibility. It seems like there greedy sometimes (i could be wrong though). Nintendo also hurts them so badly, 3DS with titles (AC new leaf) takes away even more sales! The most place they need to worry about as of right now is japan, without them sales wont get over 7mil no way IMO.

I think the PS3 will have a more commanding lead from February to until June. Sony and Microsoft dont are putting out their last efforts for the first half of the year.

I don't know, they usually sell close to the same amount during the first 3 quarters of the year with a lead with the PS3 but then it gets wiped out because a commanding X360 4th quarter.

Next year will be different though because next gen is right around the corner if rumors are correct so X360 wont have that 4th quarter to be dominate.  

The real question is, will the NeXbox have an effect on the PS3 as well?

Actually, this year will be different, too.  Last year, the gap was ~1.5M before the holidays.  The 360 was able to knock it down to a ~311K gap.  This year, the gap was ~1.6M in favor of the PS3.  However, after the numbers are in, the 360 will probably only be able to knock it down to a ~1.2M gap.  Next year, I expect the gap to be AT LEAST ~1.2M by the end of the year again.  Probably more like ~1.5M.

Using VGChartz data, Ps3 will win. It won the past four years and I don't anticipate anything to change that trend. Especially considering the 360 won't have a huge holiday to displace the lead that the PS3 will gain for the first 3/4 of the year.

This 100 times over, as soon as there is a date set in stone for the next Ms console the sales of the 360 will absolutely dry up leaving the ps3 run away with both 2013 sales and this whole HD generation, it's just a tiny gap between the two now , but watch what happens to it when that Xbox720 is shown off.

 

Edit - I don't click the polls normally because I just read the threads, would rather have the reasons why than the results, if the reason is just fanboyism there is no point to a polls results.... unless the poll is about how much of a fanboy you are :D

I personally believe that Microsoft will announce the NeXbox before E3 and then showcasing it at E3.  I dont think the PS4 will be shown until either late 2013 or early 2014.  And the reason I believe that is because if they announce the PS4 to early then the PS3 will suffer with games coming out like The Last of Us and Beyond.

Last of Us launches in May. Thats the last major exclusive next to Beyond which I am sure will be out around the same time. Both consoles have their major exclusives set to come out before E3. If you've been following the movements of the dev kits the last dev kit is in January, so I am sure Sonys will be announced more so than Microsofts. Yes, Sony can last longer than the 360 but from the time period that all these games are coming out its kind of obvious both have their eyes set on something going on for the fourth quarter.

Uh wha?  Every single week, Sony is losing more ground right now.   100-200k less every...single...week.   It's not even close right now.  Sony would have to sell 2 million ps3's in a week to even pull within a million of MS.

 

I may be wrong but doesn't Sony count shipped and MS counts sold?

If Square finally called out Final Fantasy Versus XIII at E3 all hell will break loose.That will close the gap between the PS3 and 360 in Japan alone. I hear Square is set to show off more of it in January, so thats pretty much my highlight of the year save for DMC.
