Forums - Sony Discussion - New Legend of Heroes announced for PS3/Vita + screens

a PSP/Vita simultaneous release is OK because the Vita version is definitely the superior version, but I don't think a PS3/Vita release is much of an incentive to buy a Vita or the Vita version. Unless it's cross-buy?

It's the safest way for Japanese devs to do things at the moment and the easiest way for Sony to convince them.

People aren't gonna pick up a Vita for just one game which is also on PS3.  But hopefully once they see multiple games appearing on both systems and factoring in that Japanese people seem to prefer gaming on handhelds, then it'll hopefully help Vita gain a little traction over there.

In the mean time, for the dev, a game under-performing because of Vita's userbase will be evened out by fairly decent sales on PS3 (or at least you'd hope so).

Over time I'd expect development to migrate to PSV naturally and phase out the PS3 versions as well.  But for the time being it's just a workaround of PSV's low uptake I guess.

On topic: Looks great!

This franchise is good? I like the screens.

"the kiseki"  legend of heroes are. There's only one on PSP.

play it on PSP. and yes. it's great.

For everyone saying "Zomg I'll buy it" You can buy the first "kiseki" legend of heroes on psp or vita now and its fantastic. And they'll probably bring the steam version eventually before part 2 gets released (Atleast from the information on their board).

If you want this series over here you should buy the ones already/getting released.

The first game didn't sell real well, so they're localizing this series really slowly.

I wonder if they'll bring over the HD ports for PS3 for the first and second (and likely third) Trails in the Sky, at least on PSN. I think that depends on if Sony allows PSP remasters on PSN (unlike retail where they have to be in a pack). If not... :/

Well technically the 2nd Trails in the sky, hasn't been released on PSP in U.S. So would they be allowed to just bring the PS3 version instead?

On their board they have to talk vaguely, but they've pretty much said the 2nd one isn't going to get a physical PSP release, just PSN network, and steam. They've been pretty vague regarding the PS3 versions since they were just announced by falcom, but that seems to be a logical direction instead of PSP anything.

They wanted to bring the 2nd one out because the first one ends in a huge cliffhanger, and not bringing it out would dissapoint their fans a lot. But any games after the 2nd one they've pretty much said they're going to evaluate (meaning sales).

Obviously the PSP remasters and the series heading to PS3 increases chances. And they can skip some games and go to this one. The stories become less connected after the first 2 (the fisrt 2 were originally planned to be one game). But they're still related.

Another PS3 Exclusive...SO much to play on that masterpiece of a console.

It's not exclusive lol. But having more console JRPGs (though multiplat with a portable) announced is good...so long as they're localized.

I think you can call it PlayStation exclusive lol
