in terms of new IP it hasn't really done wonders for Playstation. There is a big difference what critics think and what consumers want. New IP's tend not to do very well. They are too big of a risk when HD games cost 30-60mil for triple A products. New IP's need to be created but there is a reason we don't see them too often

Sony doesn't financially market all of their IP's. They need to be more balanced next gen but keep a healthy dose of new IP's coming. That was their biggest issue this gen.

some good points.

I can't belive they brought up dead space extraction. REALLY? this is not what the core wanted.

New IP talk again wtf? Wii Sports, Disaster: Day of Crisis. Excite Truck, Endless ocean. Granted most of these didn't do so good but they have tried creating stuff.

Every time they create a new game they say no It's to casual or it didn't sell well. How can they win?

I am sure he meant something more of  a narrative based new ip. Maybe on the lines of Metroid and Zelda. I guess you can consider Nintendoland a new ip in a way. I get what you mean though. It is hard to please everyone.

@Cobretti2 They brought up Dead Space Extraction because the dude sitting on the left is the creator of Dead Space and they did a half as job for the wii version. So they were just asking his opinion about developing for Nintendo Console.

Its not that people are hard to please, its that gamers who have grown up want mature titles from Nintendo and they wont give it to them. It's not too much to ask, as long as you dont ask Nintendo for it, its as simple as that.

Second party, its no different than Lost Odyssey for Microsoft or Gears of War. I doubt it sold well anyway.

if they want new IP'S then stop supporting old and current IP'S on all platforms

Good discussion and valid points about what happens to the multiplatform ports when the other two next gen systems come out. The happy shacknews guy had a good point too about how many people from 360/ps3 will migrate to next gen and how fast. If the sales are slow the developers will have to support the current install base longer.

Don't take it negatively but people buy Nintendo systems because of Nintendo games first and anything else is a bonus. They do get more support on their handhelds and only time will tell how the Wii U does in terms of getting 3rd party games.

Very true, although I expect WiiU to do much better, 3rd party wise, this time around.

yeah.. I agree with stage. Nintendo knew it's fans wanted mature content when they gave us killer instinct. It had mike tyson with machine gun fatality. In clear response to the no blood mortal kombat and mr dreams punch-out. Then all've a sudden we're right back in kiddie land.

Nintendo knows how to make new mature ips. They know we want that. Yet here we are 27 years and no blood except for killer instinct, an arcade cabinet.
