Not only are the profit figures wrong this thread is just dumb.

" It's making a massive profit. D: The EED posted $1.62 billion in revenue last Q3 alone" thanks Proctus.

You Sony boys will never give up. No wonder Yahoo is being stomped on by Google.

actually the 360 covered all the losses it made for the gen. SO the 360 is a profitable business. If they talk about the original Xbox, MS has a way to go, but they are doing fine right now. Especially with XBL generating a profit from the very start of next gen.

Microsoft has lost more money in this gen, then they have made..

Even with xbl profits and all.

2005-2006 and 2007 hurt them the most.

This post is wrong.

Where was the "Big 3 gains/losses over the years" thread? Would do this thread a lot of good to show that the 360 itself has erased all the losses and begun profiting while the original Xbox's losses are still around.

And please, lets not let the division of EED distort our view of Xbox profits. EED division has Windows Phone, Zune, Xbox, and a variety of other small products. The main money loss in that division is from Zune and Windows Phone. If they were out of the division, I would imagine Xbox posting over a billion in profits per year alone. That's more than worth it.

Ya-Who?

lol

I'll be behind the PC tomorrow, I'll compile a list of R&D expenses (Durango, Surface, WP8), payments to other companies (Nokia etc) that I can find then, should show for once and for all that the 360 is raking it in.

I just can't take this article seriously. Xbox is still making microsoft money so what is the point? And is there even any sign of their business collapsing?

One more thing to complete my year = senran kagura localization =D

Aha, lovely! So I guess they are still about a billion short of erasing 2005-2007 losses. Just wish that was for Xbox alone and not the EED since that convolutes things a lot.

makes no sense, yes microsoft has to fight harder to stay where they are but i would think the xbox 360 was already profitable if you take out all the zune and other financial flops of the devision. then there was the rrod which burned a lot of money and you simply have to put that in consideration because otherwise you would also have to say to a car company that it should stop producing cars because it made a loss with a car model because of some callbacks...

and nobody should forget one of the most important things, the xbox brand will be used now to try to get some other stuff working like xbox music and the xbox brand will make it much easier for microsoft to get a foot in the living room of many people with whatever they plan in the future.

so, as long as they are at least little bit in the profit with the xbox right now i see no reason why they should stop with this just because it has a smaller margin as office or windows and just because it burned a lot of money in the past...
