Retailers like GAME are already selling it at 199 here in Spain, and tbh its not really doing much better

Price and better games.

He is 100% right.

Aside the obvious make it cheaper and more people will buy it, the good points are

  • Proprietary memory card is inexcuseably expensive. Sony needs to learn if it can't do better or cheaper, then don't try to jam your stupid me-too products down consumer throats. Furthermore, even if people eat the cost, that limited 32GB size memory card capacity has had my PS-Vita full for long time and discourages continued purchasing (no way I am buying cartridges for portable).
  • iOS popular titles should be courted to get ported to PS-Vita and then sold without charging a premium

Proprietary memory cards are used to counteract piracy. If you recall, the piracy on the psp was inexcuseable.

Shirley, you don't believe that excuse.

What a stupid bit of analysis.

Sony needs to increase the value proposition without resorting to selling at a per unit loss. I don't know how they can do that, but doing what Nintendo did with 3DS is not a viable option right now.

You think if Sony could afford to sell PSV at below cost to drive sales and establish a bigger install base they wouldn't have done it?

Sony had no choice but to sell at a per unit profit, and they still have no choice. Come back when Sony's had 2 full years of decent profits and talk about resuming the loss leader strategy on new hardware. That might just be in time for Sony's 4th generation handheld, if they're still around.

They used a generic memory card for the psp and look how that turned out. The same happened with the wii and will happen for the Wii U. Clearly this was a problem so they fixed it with the Vita. I fail to see from Sony's perspective how this was a bad move. They are just protecting their product.

The effects of piracy has been discussed to death so it's not going to change your opinion even if it's discussed again.

You say the new memory is to combat piracy. Let's assume that for now.

Are you suggesting that, keeping the price high is "protecting their product?"
