Forums - Gaming Discussion - Final Fantasy next-gen tech demo took 12 months to make

Versus XIII was announced near the beginning of the generation, now its nearly over and Square Enix puts a next-gen tech demo as a higher priority than finishing Versus....crazy.

My expectations for this game are super high now. The game better be amazing or else it won't be worth the wait.
It's pretty much guaranteed there will be a 360 port of this, SE needs the money.

To show SE that I don't approve of their recent business decisions, I won't be buying Lightning Returns, no matter how good it is. Enough is enough. I'll let my wallet speak.(or not)

This way you will hurt yourself much more than them. You will miss a game that it's probable that you will enjoy it a lot (if it's really good) and they will lose only one sale, something that won't hurt to them. If you want to hurt them, organize a huge boycott, but only one man not purchasing it means nothing to them.

Guys we have no idea how many people worked on it. For all we know it might have been a small team of like 10 people.

for their sake, I assume it was worked on casually by a team of less then 10-20 people as a side project... Theres no reason for it to take 1 whole year for a few mins. Far superior CGI productions prudce 10 times the amount of footage within the same given time.

Hmm...if a 4 minute demo took a year to make, how long would would a game that has, say, 60 hours of content take to make?

About two years. They just have to remove towns, an overworld, dungeons, maybe battles.

If it really did take them twelve months to make a 4 minute tech demo, then they really need to get a move on to release FF27 by 2027...

if it's going to take this long then devs need to start working on the next, next gen right now!

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

damn...looks like I'll be growing in gray hairs by the time a next gen(s) FF comes out!!!

That's fucking retarded, they spent a year to show case something that 8th gen consoles can't even really do in real time?

well this is jsut as bad as the UE4 demo. That tok a few months to make as well.

They really need to make these tools quicker to use, otherwise teams will exponentially grow and dev costs will double, if they want to get a game out in areasonable amount of time.

We don't want another duke nukem forever 10year saga.
