lol. Is this a joke? Some random soldier has an opinion. Great.

Turkish. your post is a VGC classic. Up there with the Skee war simulator post.

Try to have a little respect.

I'm sorry?  Why? I dont know him or know what he has done or achieved.

I dont respect someone simply because they are a soldier.  I may have massive respect for him if I knew more about him.

But that id not related at all to him coming out with something this ridiculous, or it being taken so far out of context by the reporter.

Yes, I bet it is ridiculous of him to have an opinion different than yours. What a stupid human being he is.

His view of war has changed drastically....he associates modern war with sci-fi........

You completely missed his point.

Oh, right. He mentioned and praised a PS3 exclusive... -_-

Hah, no kidding, if he'd said Halo 4 instead I think the tune would be a lot different.

On topic, I see what the guy means about KZ3.  It has its problems, but the combat is very gritty and violent.  Especially those vicious melee kills.  The developers also did an excellent job on the standard weapons.  The ISA rifle is one of my favorite guns in any game.

I understand what he means about Fallout 3, as well.  You aren't bound by absolute rules, you can make a mistake and have consequences for your actions.  The design also means you can go at combat from almost any angle with totally different tactics.  It doesn't hold your hand and show you point blank how to get through, which is completely different than most of today's corridor shooters.

Halo 4 is a good game, but far from realistic. Killzone 3 is also a good game, but its more realistic. Though still unlike what soldiers actually experience on the battlefield, since its sci-fi.

Actually, no FPS or OTS is realistic enough, to be fair.

I have to agree with Killzone 3. Even in Killzone 2 I was mind blown. They should be called "the real war simulators" lol

anyways you know who won an argument when the other person responds with "whatever"

Nah.  He can be trusted.  It's just his stature.  The thing about being a guy in uniform is that you're still just a guy in uniform.  You may have certain insight because you've seen or done things many other people haven't but, in the end, you're a man with opinions and that's still just an opinion.  From day one, when I was in the military, law enforcement, and my current job in the nuclear industry, I have been told time and time again not to make statements.  Why?  Because people will look at you as the representative of your profession and that isn't the case.  That's why we had certain people to refer the media to for the "official stance".

I'm sure the guy believes everything he says and thus, that makes him honest in my book.  I just don't want to see a situation where this guy's opinion is used as the defacto stance on what soldiers feel is the most realistic combat games ever made.  Not when you have guys like Dale Dye and Seal Team 6 working on games, or that guy from Gametrailers TV testing the actual equipment and techniques on TV for everybody to see which one is the most realistic (and, no single game has gotten every single aspect right from the episodes I saw).

In the end, it's another Forza/Gran Turismo situation.  One expert will say one series is more realistic.  Another expert will side with the other series.  In the end, I'm just a gamer.  I'm looking for the one which one fulfills my gaming needs.

A vet that served in the military for 12 years while he sits behind his computer being an internet warrior. I'm not saying you are supposed to bow down to him, but simply referring to him as a "random" soldier is completely disrespectful considering what he has done for his country. Most of the people on this site wouldn't last a day in the army, let alone 12 years.

I like your attitude. Join the army while you can! People there are getting rid of illusions rather fast.

Seriosuly, best 2 years in my life ;)

I might give a chance for Killzone 2 and 3 after all.

The first game on PS2 has really made me want to stay away from the series.

Damn those Helghast soldiers needs better helmets. The ISA are pucking there eyes out.

Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

For all you know this guy could be one of those sick soliders that go around raping women and killing people and children. Why defend someone you know nothing about other then he's been in the army. I've talked to people that's been in Vietnam and WWII, both basically said the same thing about war. They get sent into this place they've never been to before, they get liquored up so they get more balls to do something and hope for the best. One of them seen his own "friends" raping women in villages and killing everything without mercy. The guy in WWII said he got dropped off at the beach it was just a massacre everyone was dying the whole plan they had completly backfired and was not even close to being accurate, the only way he lived is when he got shot in the leg he dropped and stayed down and pretended he was dead. The only thing the goverment gave him was a train ride home and nothing else, no one was there to pick him up he had to walk home in a blizzard broke and alone.

There's some video's out there of "allied" soldiers doing some sick stuff over there, now I'm saying there all doing it, it's just war is a stupid thing and it's really just a free for all on both sides, the only difference is the fire power. I can't respect a random solider because he's been in the army for 12 years, who knows what this guy done, there's no law for them.

Yes but I could also say the exact opposite and how some soldiers don't actually do some of those things. There's two sides to the argument and you shouldn't just someone before knowing them. Like the saying you gotta give respect to earn respect. Just because you don't know a person doesn't mean you don't respect what they've done. If you don't give respect to people you don't know, you'll never get respect.
