This is exactly what I have been thinking with PS4 release time. Killzone is crying out for a new entry and PS4 and killzone 4 along with uncharted 4 and even a Resistance 4 I believe are in the works. Tips have been all over the place or just the marketing value of everything 4 together with ps4. Like insomniac president talking about actually making the tapper weapon in the resistance universe as a possibility in the future. Uncharted and killzone especially killzone screaming for sequals in another year. There are rumors of ps2 production being stopped the only reason to stop making ps2 is because they are making a new console. Factor in nextbox high chip failure rate issues. I think patcher is right on the money with this one.

If anyone gets a headstart it will be Microsoft.

Still, hopefully when Sony launches in 2014 they'll have had time to prepare a good line-up...Uncharted, Killzone, etc.

well the CEO over @ Sony that helps design the system, already commented about the next playstation running 3D stcked Chips with the cost development of the chipset being 1 billion in development , that of course was split among multiple companies for the R&D FOR THIS CHIPSET. THEY PUSHED IT BACK FROM 2010 TO 2011 so the interview was indeed jan 2012, So Pach, may infact be right its very unlikely in my opinion because anything can happen that far into advance but the CEO over at Sony confirmed this information.

They don't need td wait years to do that. A $400 console sold at a ~50 loss could easily be much more powerful than a Wii U.
Keep in mind that the Wii U is nearly sold at a profit, Nintendo only needs for you to buy 1 retail game for your Wii U investment to become profitable.

Eh ... what?  Doesn't really sound either of them is ready for a 2013 launch by those rumors, but it also doesn't really paint any picture of one being further along at all.  That being said, doesn't the Xbox RUMOR make it seem as if an order has been placed for actual device chips and not dev kits?  And wouldn't that imply that they are hopeful to be gearing up for production?

I would gladly hear him making speculations about the approximate year he intends to end his career.
