Forums - Gaming Discussion - Hiroyuki Ito (Director FF6, FF9 and FF12) hints that he's working on FF15 in recent interview

Whatever Ito is working on, there's no chance it will be released this gen. It's a PS4/720 title at best. If not that, then it's a Wii U exclusive.

How do we know that? If hes been working on the game since 2008, its likely they were using the Luminious engine coupled with the Crystal Tools engine.

Its possible Luminious was designed to be a used for the PS4/720/Wii U, but I'm not sure.

I think its still undecided when this generation will end. I think its possible it could be comming for this cycle of consoles. We still have no release data for FF Versus. Its possible that this game will come in 2013/14, and FF15 in 2015. In which case I agree it will be in the next cycle of consoles.

And it would be good for Square Enix to relaunch the FF brand on the PS4/720 with this FF12 style of Final Fantasy. Since I think the Toriyama/Kitase/Nomura/Nojima style of Final Fantasy games are seeing their last days.

I think FF Versus could be a swan song to that era of FF7/8 anime style Final Fantasy. And FF15 will be a return to the fantasy style of the older games with the FF12 innovations implemented into the format. However FF Versus is the wild card here, we still have no release, and I think its possible it will be the last FF they release this generation, signalling the end to the disappointing Fabula Nova Crystalsis compilation.

However I'm hoping I'm wrong and they release FF15 ASAP, but I think your probably right, based on the most rational scenario, I think you right.

Galvaniser, I don't know if you heard but Matusno left Level 5 after he finished Crimson Shroud.

It's possible a return to Sqaure Enix is on the cards...

I wonder what could have happened for him to leave.  What's this Crimson Shroud about?  I've only seen a trailer for it which had nothing but character portraits.

I suppose you can find out if you get in on December 13th, when it comes out in Europe and the US. I don't know much about it.

I would like to get it, but I don't have any intention of buying a 3DS at this point.

No idea why he left Level 5. One would assume that he was under a contract for just one game. But if that was the case he would have said as much.

He said he needs time to recharge before his next project, which means its probable something else is in the pipeline.

It's possible Square Enix asked him to return. If it is Final Fantasy 15, where he is rumoured to be the scenario writter, then he would not be allowed to say anything until the offical announcement of the project. I wish he would not be so illusive about things. I can imagine him returning to Square because his former collegues are at Sqaure. I can also imagine him working for somewhere like Mistwalker. Nintendo is picking up a lot of 3rd party support at the moment, I wouldn't supprised if they made him an offer with Mistwalker.

Maybe he is returning to Squenix to remake Vagrant Story or work on FFXII HD.

Unfortunately not. I've asked him on Twitter, he replyed to me this morning.

He has said he will NEVER go back to Ivalice. He wants new projects.

I want to ask him if he will ever go back to Square Enix, since he rumoured to be the scenario writter for FF15.

However I very much doubt he will answer that question.

He will never return to Ivalice? That's terrible news!

I guess it's safe to say that his new project is not for Square Enix. I wish him all the best in whatever he does. Sadly, he's slowly becoming a nobody in modern gaming. He hasn't worked on a single AAA game this gen.

I wouldn't be bothered if he never returned to Ivalice if he was doing something just as productive. I did also ask him if he would return to Xgyenia (the world of Tactics Ogre); but he didn't respond to that, he only mentioned Ivalice. its possible he could return to Sqaure for a new Ogre Battle game.

Unfortunately Sqaure Enix's Japanese division has wasted a lot of time. The Final Fantasy name has been greatly damaged without developers like Sakaguhci or Matsuno.

Can you ask him if he would ever work with Square Enix again on a large-scale HD project? I really need an answer to this question.
