Forums - Gaming Discussion - Tomb Raider Will Be 12-15 Hours Long, Lara Will Have Regen Health & Can't Swim

This game was going to be an open-world survival game. Then just a survival game. Now just a game.

I miss the old PS1 Tomb Raider games. Used to spend days trying to solve some of the puzzles.

yess I cant wait!... pre-ordering!.. do they have special editions?.. 12-15 hours long?.. awesome!! it means it will have DLC to extend the game!..

Pretty much seems they decided to destroy everything Tomb Raider games actually are/were. As 15+ years long time fan - OH, IT MAKES ME MAD.

At this rate we'll end up playing on-rails cutscenes games next gen, just wait.

Judging by some footages I saw of the game, the game looks heavily inspired by Uncharted. Those camera works and sudden events look way similar. No Tomb Raider game was like this before.

This describes it best. Despite knowing that i would likely never get a chance to play the game, this game held my interest back at the beginning of development. Now? Blecch.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

it's all good, they didn't change the most important part: Her hair color!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Goddamit. Tomb Raider was always about exploration and then Tomb Raider Legend came out and it became quite a bit more streamlined and cinematic. I thought that TRL had a perfect blend of action and puzzles. Uncharted came out and it was pretty close to Tomb Raider Legend, almost down to the button placement (though it did have the cover mechanics that Tomb Raider never had). Uncharted 2 was much more cinematic but audiences (including me) loved that approach.

Now, it's getting old. Right when many devs seem to be copying the Uncharted 2 style, it seems to have jumped the shark with Uncharted 3 being more cinema than actual game. Now, we have Uncharted Enslaved, Uncharted Hitman, Uncharted Splinter Cell, and finally, Uncharted Tomb Raider. Instead of being a leader in her own genre, Lara Croft looks to be becoming another "Me too" Uncharted Clone.

It's ironic because Uncharted was once the Tomb Raider clone.
