Forums - Gaming Discussion - How will Sony fans react if PS4 is not the most powerful Next Gen console?

Sony fans have been treated this generation to arguably the best looking games this generation.   Titles such as Uncharted and God of War are loved not just for stellar gameplay but also for their cutting edge console graphics.  Anytime we talk about great graphics Sony exclusives are always noted for their great presentation.

But what happens if next gen Sony doesn't have the most powerful machine?  What if the Next Xbox is far more powerful?   Will Sony fans h3 dissapointed, not care, or possibly convert to Xbox?  Im just curious Sony fans opinions on this since they seem to care the most about graphics.

Why would they react? During the PS1 and the PS2 era they had the least powerful consoles. Only "new" Sony fans will make a riot about this.

Nintendo and PC gamer

Sony fans are used to having weaker hardware. If what you suggest happens, then we won't hear them bragging about graphics, and Xbox fans will instead.

I realize that but with both PS3 and Vita Sony built powerful consoles.  The modern Sony fan is used to Sony pushing out the most powerful hardware.  Many threads on these forums talk in great detail about how great graphics are for Sonys consoles.  Im j7st curious what the modern Sony gamers opinion would be

I don't think they would care. The only reason power became the 'cool' thing is because sony said the power of the ps3 is unmatched by any system ad blu-ray is the future of disc storage. It won't matter anymore if sony say it won't. Power doesn't matter anyway.

And coming from a non sony fan. I would rather they turn profit then risk disappearing.

One more thing to complete my year = senran kagura localization =D

Yes. If you owned a PS1/2 and loved and appreciated the goodness they gave to the world while being weakest hardware wise it will not matter. It should be normal.

Many of you commenting in here remember the days of PS1 and PS2s prime. You need to also remember for many people PS3 was their first console. Sony made it a priority to emphasize the systems power when advertising it. I th8nk if Sony underdeliver in power next gen it might bother some newer Sony fans who want the cutting edge. Obviously Sony has many fans who wont be bothered but I think theres certainly a segment that would

I'd probably be pleased, actually.

None of the series in my signature require any kind of high-graphical-power to be what they are (arguably WipEout HD Fury, but Pulse was great without HD or 60 fps).

I mean, it was lovely seeing Ratchet in HD and the level of detail when I first played Tools of Destruction was mind blowing.  But regardless of that, I played it for the game.

I do see where you're coming from with this point, don't get me wrong, but I can only answer for myself!

Should have included Anger and denial in one of the poll options.
That would have been my choice

Current Game Machines: 3DS, Wii U, PC.

Currently Playing: X-Com(PC), Smash Bros(WiiU), Banner Saga(PC), Guild Wars 2(PC), Project X Zone(3DS), Luigis Mansion 2(3DS), DayZ(PC)

I won't care :)

PS4 will also be cheaper than the competition aswell
