What are the negatives of streaming?

the negatives are:

- you need to be online to use it and have a pretty good connection by todays standards

- the service can be offline or overloaded, so people won't be able to use it at any time they want or won't have a good experience with it

- it's an additional source for lag, so actions on screen may happen noticeably after you pressed a button, which is very bad in certain genres, like beat'em ups or competitive online shooters

- the catalogue might not include all the games, so people might not be able to play their favorite games

personally I was able the try the Gaikai service for PC this summer and it felt quite good already with not hugely noticeable lag, but as I said for certain genres it might not be able to deliver the same experience as a game calculated on your own box and additionally there are all the problems you can have with an online service that needs high bandwith

all I need is PS+ lol

I used the bc on the ps3 for exactly 3 games. To try out GT4 and SotC, didn't look a any better. And to play FF12. The emulation was so perfect it even emulated corrupting my virtual sd card after 80 hours of FF12. I quit back to the xmb a moment too soon apparently. Never used it again.

I used the bc on the wii about as many times. Having to play with the old controllers with the short wires connected to the Wii sitting in the av rack, not convenient.

I can manage without bc. It would be a shame to lose all psn games though.

i honestly think its better to not put backwards compatibility into the PS4, it will keep the price down. who ever wants to really play PS3 games by then can easily buy a PS3, at the time it PS4 launches the ps3 should be very cheap. i dont see why people would make a huge deal out of this

It doesn't need PS3 B/C.
Who buys a new console to buy last-gen games? Almost no one.
So increasing the costs of the system with B/C is not necessary.

I got a 3Ds and all I play lately is Pokemon black 1 /2 for DS

I got a Wii , and most of the games I play on it are Gamecube games

I use my PS2 to play PAL PS1 games.

I played too many older games on Wii / PS3 / 360 on their "Classic" stores, I played too many PS1 classics on my PSP.

I use my PC to play older games.

I am not a retro fan by any means, but I love to play games that I missed out on , and having backwards compatiblity is a great thing.

Hmm, don't really care about disk PS3 playback, but what im concerned about is my entire digital library. We will have the same PSN account and I'm sure trophies and such will carry over. But what about all those games? Hopefully that is what Gaikai is for.

PSP Lifetime more than PSV+3DS Lifetime.

Yea, not sure about that either. Personally I've owned a Mega Drive/Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, GameCube and a PS3 and the only console that had bc ironically was the PS3.

I did play several PS2 games on it, like: FF10,10-2,12; SotC and Ico; Ôkami; Yakuza 2 and so on, especially during the start of the gen, but looking back I could have just bought a PS2 then and a non-bc PS3 1-2 years later.

Why would you buy a ps4 to play ps3 games??? The mind boggles.

But what about your digital library, would you not like to keep that for the next console? (Hopfully we can at least Stream it via Gaikai)

PSP Lifetime more than PSV+3DS Lifetime.

They could always get games from say 2013 onwards to have a compile for the PS4 included on every disc that way all PS3 games going forwards would be backwards compatible. Alternatively they could pay developers to release the PC version runtime as a download for popular games whilst keeping the assets the same.
