She has gone to a better place.

could i have your disk drive?

glad to hear you're up and running again,my 60gb went last year, don't think i can get it fixed as it just gave up but i still want to take it to the repair shop and find out

                                                                                                                                        Above & Beyond

Forget the repair shop; unless they have factory refurbished logic boards, the absolute best one could expect is a reballed CPU/GPU. Most will probably just reflow the solder joints which is a temporary fix at best.

My original CECH-A01 model, bought in the first week of Jan 2007 lasted about two years and over 5,000 hours with about a six month stretch of 24/7 operation (Folding whenever I wasn't using it).

I eventually sent it in to SCE for a factory refurb which lasted until earlier this year (about two years of use).

I sent in a work order for a second factory refurb, and after boxing it up, it's been sitting in the corner of my living room for a few months now since everything was transfered to the CECH-H01 model I bought late 2008 to replace my original CECH-A01.

The CECH-H01 had died in 2010, which was also sent in for a refurb, and after sitting in my closet unused for the better part of two years, took the place of the CECH-A01 refurb after it died as my main PS3.

So you definitely had better luck than I did!

I picked up a CECH-4001B during the Black Friday $199 deal, and that's now my secondary PS3 and hopefully the last PS3 I will ever buy.

I may never send my second CECH-A01 back to the factory for another refurb, but who knows?

right,i didn't think there would be much chance ,it's already been to the repair shop once for a new drive and anything else is always temporary

I sent in my work order earlier this year. It might have been way back near the end of summer, but to be honest I don't even remember what month it was.

I was somewhat surprised to hear I could still get a CECH-A01 refurb when I talked to the customer service rep.

As far as I know, you still can. It was either $130 or $160.

I almost wouldn't mind having an unused CECH-A01 refurb in the closet, but I'm not sure there's much point in that!

sony over here i think charged £100 for a fix when i last asked a few years back,it is not needed of course but if i have the money somtetime i wouldn't mind getting the 60gb up and running for films in the bedroom or something, for old times sake, which probably means i'll never do it but i'll find out how much it will cost first
