Forums - Nintendo Discussion - GameStop says consumers have reserved 1.2 million Wii U titles, or double the number of Wii games in 2006! Gamasutra says 2.4 games per console reservation......

I wonder how many of those reserves are for NintendoLand, for those who couldn't preorder the Premium console.

Anyway, very nice numbers, (although they are still far from the numbers Iwata want, those 4.4 games per console)

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

I recall hearing amazon actually ran out of preorders for mario. I have preordered 5 games. I was hoping ninja gaiden 3 would make launch but no such luck :(

I still haven't preordered aliens, pikmin, monster hunter, need for speed or bayonetta 2 yet. Nintendo are going to bleed me dry with this.

That is strange. Especially since IGN already reviewed it.

Dont know what hes talking about it is a launch title

Not if he is in Europe

Myself i have pre-ordered 4 not including ZombiU which is bundeled

Those are shipment figures Iwata is talking about, not consumer sales figures.

hopefully it's true, obviously due to hardcora game sales, casual Nintendo games need time to sell usually!

maybe this will help Rockstar to port GTA V on WiiU with some cool gameplay, because GTA V can change the whole generation flow if it appears on WiiU

(like GTA IV could prevent at least a respectabe part from the core from leaving the Wii....)

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

I know, but if retailers don't see a high enough demand they won't ask for more shipments and, to be honest, it will be very hard to reach those numbers.

I think those numbers are a best case scenario rather than what they think will happen.

That's kind of surprising. Makes me wonder what the sales will be once the console finally launches.

I think the 4.4 games per console will be easily reached. I mean Lego City GTA, Pikmin 3, Aliens and Monster Hunter are all coming in Q1 2013. Those are all million sellers (maybe exception Aliens) Or am I just a little too optimistic? :(

They'll come close enough that retailers will continue ordering.

You also have to consider that a launch will have the absolute lowest softare to hardware sales ratio a console will ever see.   it only grows from then on.

If its 500k just for Gamestop hopefully they have a lot more systems ready (happily they are a head of projection according another post. Plus if a lot of them are deluxe they may be holding off reserving games to buy them on the eShop to start gaining credit. I know that is what I'm going to do. If I find out which 3rd party games are going to be on the eShop will change what my brother will buy in store when he picks the console up. And this will affect the tie in ratio at least what we know initially because Nintendo has been hesitant to release their figures so far for the eShop. But if it does great I expect they will announce it in some way.

That's true. I'm thinking at launch people will most likely get Mario U and another title. But you are right, from here on forth the software ration will only increase! Did you pre-order a Wii U?
