A moderately compressed bluray (1080p) can have a bandwith of 54mbps, 4k is roughly 6 times bigger resolution than 1080p. Stereoscopic 4k could be around 600mbps, right?

Blu-rays are usually around 25-30mbps and is the best quality digital video you can get I believe. 4k is just over 4 times the resolution so you'll be looking at a maximum bit-rate of around 110mbps. Internet or streaming 1080p has a much lower bit-rate though, only around 10mbps, but qualit does suffer. They could probably apply the same level of compression to 4k and get away with 40mbps.

Oh man, I miscalculated earlier today. :D You are right, 4x.

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE

I ALSO WANT MY DIGITAL AUDIO OUT

This is actually a way better point to whine about.. I did not spend 1000s of dollars on my Surround System to hear Mario in stereo..

THis is big for me :(. Two months ago I moved into  an Adobe house and my WiFi doesn't travel all the way to my living room. So I've actually converted to Xbox for my Netflix and online media hub.  I planned on getting a Wii U to make it my central Media place in my living room.  Currently I use a device that transfers internet through the electrical outlets in my house  to connect my Xbox to the internet(really neat technology too). But it plugs in through Ethernet cords, anybody know how much the Wii U's Ethernet adapter is and where to get it?

just get one from amazon http://www.amazon.com/HDE-Ethernet-Adapter-Nintendo-Wii-Port/dp/B003XWD1G2/ref=sr_1_5?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1352419658&sr=1-5&keywords=usb+to+ethernet

but any would work so go to ebay and get one for 4 bucks from china

I love ebay stuff from china...

but seriously.. you should just get a second router with wifi for in the livingroom and plug the ethernet cord in..

And here is a thing which you don't know, unless you have a magic crystal ball. 8mbps is not great by any means.

Clearly you don't understand the difference in quality between MPEG2 and MPEG4 (aka h264 or x264)

You can acheive the same quality in about 1/4 to 1/5 the file size IF you know how to encode and are patient for multi passes to finish.

I have seen 45gb Raw BluRays compressed to 8gb - 10gb x264 and they look great.

They even animated it for you lol.

EDIT: come to think of it I think most modern TVs have the DIGITAL OUT which you hook up to your amflifier anyway.

Doesn't effect me at all.it's 2012

And wired connections are still better.  You're right it's 2012, everyone should have ethernet ran through their house by now.

I'm grateful I'm not a real gamer, online or otherwise. It seems so exhausting
