Looks pretty cool to me. I may consider buying one day...

I'm not sure why you'd assume that.
My hype for this console is higher compared to the Wii. I am going to have a blast with my PC and Wii-U console. I am more excited with my purchase compared to my Paramedic license (Fall -2013). lol
they should have included white gloves with the black WiiU
here is a link for those who want to buy a pair http://www.gloves-online.com/proddetail.php?prod=W-600
I'm gonna get a pair!

I don't know how your house is put together, but I have a couple of outlets right next to the couch. I don't have any USB ports on my walls though. |
+1 for you. I lol'd. xD

It's a negative since its the only way to charge it. USB charing through the console is not supported. If battery life was longer it wouldn't be that big of a problem. This means you CAN NOT use the Wii U gamepad while charging it unless you have an outlet very close. I'd imagine the Wii U charger is pretty short. The gamepad battery life is extremely disappointing. There are tablets such as the iPad that manage much better battery life all while doing its own processing/computing. |
Yep. The battery life is pretty mean. This is not surprising as there is so much going on with it. Wireless, display etc., Longer life batteries usually means more weight and with people already moaning about the weight of the gamepad maybe they opted for a lesser battery.
On the PS3 I have a USB extender cable that allows me to play when the battery is dead... or dying.
If what you say is true and you cannot charge the gamepad from the wii u's USB whilst playing then that is a bad overlook from nintendo.
The least you can hope for is that they have the intelligence to recognise this and give you a loooong power charge cable. Maybe that's asking to much.
If gaming is only supported for 3hrs or so before a 2hr break for charging there is going to be a lot of christmas day disappointment as the battery gives up the ghost just when it's grandma's turn to have a go.

Does the power supply not fit inside the console? Why is PS3 the only console to not have a power brick? -Wii U Pro controller looks nice. Wonder if its actually usable. The button placements seem like an odd choice. -Wii U gamepad disapoints. Needs its own power chord to charge. No charging via USB, only 3-5hour battery life despite the console being the one doing all the work..... -Launch line-up is nice but not anything that convinces me to jump ship since the best of the line-up is available on PS3/360 as well... |
The fact that the Wii U gamepad has a power brick does not mean you can't charge from USB.

True. But this needs to be confirmed. So far I have found no evidence to support that it can charge through USB.
They are plenty of rumours that it can't but I guess we need to wait for more details.

Actually it was confirmed.
The reason being USB does provide enough power i.e. the pad would charge too slow (slower than its rate of consumption?)
I rememeber reading it for sure, but I'm too tired to look it up :p

I think your bad overlook is that you can buy a extender cable for your socket, and these are much cheaper than USB cables.
