Forums - Gaming - iPad mini sells more in 3 days than the Nexus 7 has sold in the past month

I'm kinda new here but....WTF?

I don't think apple will ever exceed Nintendo Wii sales...EVER. You might want to recount that iphone sales. You have to remember that Wii is only ONE unit. Iphone has iphone 1, 2, 3, 3gs, 4, 4s, 5 & soon to be 5s. Ipad has 1, 2, 3 and soon to be 4. And now mini pad.

So, we can now safely say that Nintendo will still be crowned king of sales for ONE unit.

Don't be so sure. Apple sold 125 million iPhones in the past year, and research has shown that around 90% of iPhones sold are the latest model. That means 112 million iPhone 4S's.

Even if the 4S hasn't sold that many yet, you have to take into account that the smartphone market is still growing rapidly, while game consoles seem like they might not be growing at all. The iPhone 5 will likely sell 150 million units or more.

There were huge supply constraints on the iPad mini too; it was sold out basically everywhere. Android simply can't compete with Apple in the tablet market. Time will tell if MS can...

that is very very true, i cant understand why though

It's probably because the Android OS is even more horrendous on tablets than it is on phones.

Android 4.1 is better then ios, most reviews agree..... Nexus 7 is also a superior tablet, people are sheep.

That's like compare sales of iPhone vs. Galaxy... you know what sells wayyyyyyy more.

Anyway iPad mimi is a better product then Nexus 7.

No it isn't more expensive less powerfull. Anything an ipad can do a nexus can and its more cudtomizaeble.

Are they sheep when they buy Android phones, or just when they buy iPads?

Android many flavours.. Apple one device people buy regardless of merit... Not rocket science.

Ipad hasn't really had a serious competition till Google and Amazon entered the ring. It's not strange that iPad mini sold more units on launch than nexus 7 in a month. It's same in the console world, and especially characteristic to Apple, since their product usually sell well at launch. But what is more significant is that this is a direct answer to the competition - it is a device that has a "wrong screen size" and which Apple said never to make. This only means that it's getting crowded in the tablet market and that Apple feels threatened.

Looking at the specs, iPad mini already has outdated hardware and is not competitive in price (characteristic to Apple). Google is putting bomb after bomb (the nexus family of devices) following the initial sucess of the Nexus 7. Even the strongest opposition of Android devices admits that Nexus 4 is a VERY tempting offer.

In the background, Microsoft and Nokia are aggressively starting to push Windows8 and WP8 devices, with upcoming Surface Pro surely to be a hit since it will offer vastly improved productivity.

While the look of iOS is standing still, Android and Windows/ Windows Phone look is rapidly evolving. IMHO, the look of Windows 8 is ahead of both Android and iOS.

It will be fun to watch this unravelling

.

This is kind of pathetic. People buy whatever Apple chugs out, even if it's a dumb idea.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

I like Apple products in general. They have good specs and are well designed. But I would never wait in line for days just to get a phone like some apple fans. This is ridiculous behaviour for me.

I just don't understand the need to upgrade to newer models every year, like many people do.

Good post totally agreed, and true. Apple will lose market share like they do everywhere else because of their arrogance, pricing strategy and need to tightly lock down everything.

Right. The majority is only a bunch of bleating morons when they disagree with you. Not rocket science, just psychology. Your own psychology.
