My initial impressions.

1. This is the game I have been waiting for since Halo 4. By far the best Halo and best FPS I have played so far.

2. Graphics are INSANE. Very close to the best I've ever seen on any console, I honestly didn't think the 360 was capable of this amount of graphical and technical detail. Environments are huge and the draw distance is breathtaking. Also the facial animations are the best I have ever seen.

3. Multiplayer is the best I have ever played by far. Even when I get owned I am having fun. Everything blends together so perfectly and it takes the best of COD and the best of Halo to form the most excellent multiplayer I've ever played. Only gripes are the AR and SAW are a bit overpowered (especially the SAW).

4. I'm only on the first mission in campaign but so far it's also the best campaign I've ever played. Shows a human side of Master Chief and Cortana that I never thought I would see. Perfect blend of action, cinematic, and excellently crafted story.

I haven't played Spartan Ops or Forge or messed around with theater.

So overall impressions is that this game is AMAZING! Game of the year and of all time for me.

Your impressions make me want to go out and grab another copy to play while I'm playing my original copy!  Is there anything you would say that you didn't like about the game?  Not being ablt to look down the sites or crappy menus or something (hypothetically)?

Complaints....umm, I don't like how you still can't have multiple people watch theater videos (Halo 3 let you) and some weapons in MP are slightly OP. Overall I don't really have any serious complaints with the game (I am probably missing a few little things and I'll probably come across a few more things as I play more).

I am of the opinion that Halo 4 is the epitome of current gen gaming.

Yeah my friend noticed the Assualt Rifle was a little over powered as well yesterday.  I only died by it once as I rarely let people get that close to me.  He on the other hand gets up close so he had to deal with it more.  The SAW is ridiculous but it's a power weapon so I can deal with it.  The shotgun has a longer distance now and it seemed over-powered as well.  I killd someon in one shot that was well out of range from previous halo games.  They will fix all this soon though.  They didnt have a beta so it's understandable.  Just don't be like Gears and not do anything that people constantly complain about. *cough cough* Retro lancer *cough cough*

It's great to have you back more often yo_john, but I'm beginning to think that's only the case because selnor has hijacked your account.

Cool your thrusters man or your HUD is gonna fog up!

I can't help it! The game is sooo good!

Spent my banned time to beat the game. Loved it.

The story is showcased in ways I only got in the books. I thank 343 for bringing the emotion found in the novels into the gaming spectrum.

And for this game being an 87 on meta, it has no impact on me because this game was criticized for playing like traditional Halo when that is exactly what I wanted.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Fixed.

I'm considering it. But I played the demo of Halo Reach and I didn't like, the graphic was weak and the gameplay was average.

Well Halo 4 is, without any doubt, the best looking FPS of this gen. But if you don't like halo gameplay then you don't like halo gameplay.

Killzone 3 says 'hi'. Not even mentioning the Crysis 2.

Nah. Sorry I own Killzone 3 and Crysis 2. Both those games do some really nice things. But Halo 4 continually throughout betters both those games fairly often.

First of all, Halo 4 has better textures than both games. Less low res stuff around. The lighting in Halo 4 easily defeats the other 2 and the scale dwarfs the other 2.

Theres to many moments wich better the previous. First time you see the Forerunner planet open up in first level whilst still playing. First time you see that huge Forerunner moving structure valley. That was unmatched by any game seriously impressive. Then you see the amazing interior of the forerunner sructures wit Tron Legacy esk Blue, Reds and Yellow lighting bright lit neon almost. Such a sight. Then without further spoils it just gets even better. The game looks unbelieveable for this generation.

Killzone 3 and Crysis 2 do not say hi. The 2 best visuals Ive put on my TV so far Is Halo 4 and Forza Horizon. Followed by GOW3 then the rest. No video does the game justice at all. Because the lighting is so vibrant and glowing all that is lost in Youtube videos. Really a must see game. Must see.

Nah sorry I too own all three and Halo 4 has much more low res than Killzone 3 considering Halo 4 is far more open.

The lightning in Halo 4 is better though, no doubt. But even the textures on the weapons in Halo 4 (which are stunning) are still behind Killzone.

The top would be Uncharted 3 & God of War 3 in my opinion, followed closely by Killzone 3 & Gears of War 3.

EDIT: Aethestically, Halo 4 might be better looking indeed. But visually? No.

No chance Gears 3 gets absolutely dropkicked by Halo 4. So hard Marcus would fail to get up after te first punch. Halo 4 Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy over Gears 3 visuals. Only close textures on Gears 3 wins. But Halo 4 kills it on everything else. Kills it.

I am still having trouble believeing the level Forerunner was possible on any console this generation. That was the most Epic thing Ive ever seen. Infinity also impressed with Epicness.

Ive literally never showed anyone walking in the door before a game just for visuals. I showed the milkman this morning as he likes a bit of PC gaming. Even he was impressed.

Just played the Multiplayer. That level with the electricity going in the pipes. That is also the most amazing multiplayer visuals for a game ive seen. It looked almost as good as the campaign.

Te rest I wont comment on as its PS3. Message me PM to discuss further.

Back on topic, I'm really enjoying the campaign, does anyone know what resolution it's running at. Looks SOOOOOOO much better than any rubbish Bungie turned out. Sorry, I respect Bungie for what they did with the original, but was never impressed with Halo 3 or ODST and REACH. They were graphically lazy.

Halo 4 is like a next gen game to compare relatively, loving it.

1280x720, it's the first true 720p Halo game.

I love Bungie and what they have given me, so it pains me to say this: They weren't graphically lazy, they were incompetent, especially with the CPU.

I have to agree, I didn't want to put it in too offensive terms as obviously what bungie achieve was and still is amazing. But the amazing bit was the core gameplay, graphically I remember booting up Halo 3 first and seeing the jaggies and thinking, sure this can't be right!? Then I remember the video docs for REACH saying the game had been completely overhauled only to be greeted by basically a total conversion of Halo 3.

Halo 4 is something else. Anyways I'll shurrup, I sound like a fanboy on overtime shift.
