Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony ignored PS Vita to keep E3 presentation short....O_o

At the least they could have done what Nintendo did, and run a secondary show.

ugh we knew this on the very same day. Within an hour or so. Yoshida san pretty much said that it was the way the PR team in charge of it handled it

Anyways it's a shame, they had many nice titles they could have shown off which they only did after the conference itself. Hopefully they will use this as a lesson for Gamescom

and talk non stop about the same set of games and bore everyone to death? Hell no. That would have been even worse. They handled the post E3 stuff well, they released some good/new media for the games. The nintendo second conference was a huge waste of time. It's like they did for the heck of it.

Yes, "ignore" your struggling handheld on the big stage... smart. :/

I'm guessing the 30 minutes they dedicated to wondebook were absolutely essential.

People who are actually interested in 3DS games weren't bored. They learned more about how Castlevania and Paper Mario would work, they got more footage of NSMB2 as well as some other games.

and this could not be done with a release of a few dev diaries/trailers and other videos? Instead majority of the time of that conference was showered with absolutely boring PR (seriously who was that guy? He was horrible. I forgot who, but that dev who talked towards the end was much better)

It was a waste of time. They did not have anything that warrants a second conference.

Vita fans learned more about the games they wanted to know more about too you know. Post conference there were many videos talking/showing gameplay for many games. Sony did a scheduled (tho the schedule was changed a few times to accomodate devs etc) and showcased all the main sony E3 games with their devs and asked them fan questions directly as well. Much much better way to handle it.

Funny, I haven't seen anything on the gaming websites I use about the Vita from E3 aside from the 5 minutes it got at Sony's E3 conference, and some of that was focused on a logo...

Meanwhile, Nintendo's 'waste of time' 3DS conference was covered in its entirety with live blogs, instant articles, live tweeting etc.

If E3 is all about exposure, guess which method won.

lol then you are using the wrong websites? You should visit the official website sometime ;) We had all the interviews, trailers etc up there from various sources. Most of the direct material came from sony themselves. I think you have a selective memory or something.

and hey for me E3 is about getting to know about the games I want :) I'm not arguing the fact whether sony did right on vita front 'during' the conference. They didn't and I have expressed as such very very clearly several times. I'm arguing on having a 2nd yawn fest conference when it's not needed. Heck they needed 3idiots to cover up time and even then they could have a 1 hour conference. They even started 10-15mins late. I'm saying sony handled post E3 vita coverage much better than they did during the conference.

oh and ps: Nintendo didn't win E3 :) they messed up their chance with the WiiU two years in a row. Their 'method' didn't win

Vita didn't have much stage time, no, but it was there. It's sad since they could have shown some stuff off when there was more publicity, like there is on stage, but the floor was littered with Vita titles. The PlayStation Blog was streaming live 24/7 for all three days. Something like 8 hours live interviews/demos/trailers a day with reruns during off hours. It was available on NicoNico, the PS Blog website, Ustream, the PS3 XMB, and PlayStation Home (though maybe just the conference for Home/XMB). They did release a bunch of videos covering that time too, a super long live episode of pulse that covered all three days that can be downloaded on PS Store.

I kind of would have liked a 2nd conference for Vita ala 3DS style. I like the 3DS conference somewhat, it showed some games I'd care about like PaperMario and I'm no longer confident that New Super Mario Bros 2 is a terrible game like the first one (just my opinion, I'm a old school mario fan and that was not acceptable, and yes I did beat the game).

Anyway, despite Vita's strength on the floor and lack there of on the stage, Sony does has Gamercon and Tokyo Game Show pretty much all to themselves console wise. At least one of those will have a huge Vita display.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

Apparently, Sony's Priorities go something like this.

PS3>Wonderbook>Playstation Plus>>>>>Vita.

However you try to spin it, this shows a lack of commitment to the Vita, and a lack of confidence. They're either saying "The Vita is not interesting enough to people to give it time at our conference" or "we're not interested enough in E3 to put it in our conference". Either way, not good news for Vita owners.
