And how much does it cost for just a monitor with the same 1880p resolution?  I didn't manage to find one on Dell's site at any price (but for $1300 you can get 1600p, just the monitor).

Why would I buy a monitor?

For that $2200 I can buy the desktop and a Samsung HDTV.

Well of course the HDTV should be cheaper, it has only 1/3 of the pixels...I take it you're not one of those people concerned about 720p for Wii U's launch titles :).

The screen size is the only thing you care about?

The S3 is an awesome phone that you define.
The iPhone5 will surely be an awesome phone that Apple defines.

Biggest question is if you already live with Apple stuff and iTunes/iPods. If you do, then yes you should probably choose iPhone for simplicity. If you don't then dont' head that way or eventually you're forced into it. High prices and all.

Well you can get the 13" MBP (1280 x 800 screen) starting at $1,199. The updated 15" MBP (with the same screen as before, 1440 x 900) can still be had starting at the same price as last years model $1,799.

If you want the new one with the Retina display (2880 x 1800 WOW!) then that starts at $2,199. It does also come with a 256GB SSD unlike the other models which have standard hard drives.

That screen must look gorgeous. I was blown away by how good the screen looks on the new Ipad compared to the older ones. I'd probably feel the same seeing this one in action. It has a higher resolution than my 27" Dell U2711 monitor! (2560 x 1440)
