I'm not angry anymore when I take less than 10 hours to finish a game, and it kind of bothers me when a game is longer than that. as a result, I'm having issues playing RPGs and other longer singleplayer games, but when I can forget about the fact that I won't finish a game soon, I enjoy it. I can still play sandbox strategy games with no problems though, and multiplayer too. this gen I also abandoned Nintendo and I can't see myself buying a Wii U anytime soon too (got a PS3 last year), and I probably won't buy a new handheld too (I own a DS Lite).

Nope, I still have the same love for JRPG and that saying something because in this gen the genre has suffered a lot.  The only thing that i don't do anymore is playing with handhelds.

My favorite genres haven't changed - jrpg, fighting.

But I have enjoyed Resident Evil 5 and Uncharted 2 way more than I expected. Never been a fan of third person shoorters but these two were absolutely stunning.

I have changed a little. My favorite genre is still JRPGs, but my tolerance for easy games has crippled. I can't stand easy at all anymore.

Initially ecstatic over the Wii, then got over it. Then the PS3 and 360, that's died down a bit. I find myself playing PC most of the time being too lazy to fire up any consoles. Most played are still probably my handhelds though.

In terms of tastes I haven't changed, I still play and enjoy literally every single genre of games, except most MMORPGs. Mass Effect and Deus Ex:HR were the first time I genuinely enjoyed the combat in a WRPG though most of the time I'd still go with JRPGs for combat and story and WRPGs for well written dialogue and freedom. Some JRPGs have excellent dialogue and freedom too though, unfortunately rarer than hens teeth.

That a lot I thought I knew about the gaming industry went out the window.

Before this gen I despised FPS, they gave me a headache but now FPS is one of my favorite genres. I also never ever played online before this gen, but now online multiplayer games are some of my most played games.

Also its weird but this gen also made me a fan of JRPGs even though I didn't even know they were a sub-genre of their own before. I guess a combination of JRPGs from my DS and 360 really changed my views on that.

Just like many others I think my demand for quality has increased a lot this gen. If a game is just a little bit boring then I just can't keep playing it and just think "I could have played a better game or done some work instead of wasting my time here" to myself. Last gen I could play pretty much any game as long as I was able to make progress.

As for my prefered genres, they've pretty much stayed the same except maybe less interest for RPG's and more interest for cinematic games like Dead Space and Metro 2033.

Before 2008 I had never played any JRPG outside of the Pokemon games, now they are by far my favourite games and make up a plurality, maybe in the future a majority of my gaming collection.

Well my biggest change this generation has been my tolerance for large long games. I love a 40+ hour game but onl if it is constantly evolving and changing. My tolerance for linear games has been shrinking I want more choice and freedom different outcomes. I am digging open world games in a major way.

Online game play has also become essential for me but I still love the old multi player titles.
