Forums - Sony - Team ICO gettin some help: Santa Monica and other US and UK owned studios on the Job

Sony U.S. and U.K. dev teams helping finish The Last Guardian Sony 'can't talk about the timing of launch.' by Sal Romano [@salromano] at 06:45 PM EST, February 21, 2012 . Team Ico isn’t the only studio working on The Last Guardian. Some of Sony’s U.S. and U.K. development teams are helping finish the project, Sony has confirmed. Santa Monica, the studio behind God of War, is one of them. “We have great tech people in Worldwide Studios. We have a central tech group in the US and the UK so we are giving them whatever help they need,” said Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida during an interview with Wired (via Eurogamer). “Technically, we have the best engineers in the US and Europe, so these teams are helping them, giving advice.” So when is it coming out, then? “There’s a vision that we want to realise but it’s very very tough and technical issue that the team is tackling and some plans have to be made to evaluate and go through the process,” said Yoshida. “At one point the progress was great, so we talked about the timing of the launch in the past. But now it’s making progress, but still not to the level – it’s playable, but not to the point that we can talk about the timing of launch.”

Wow...things at Team Ico must indeed be rough.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

If this game is anything but a masterpiece when it releases - which is quite a feat to accomplish in normal conditions let alone in this chaotic development - the amount of press hate towards it will be unbelievable!

I'll probably won't play it, but I hope it becomes one of the best PS3 games, as SoC was for the PS2.

I think it's just SCEJ in general. Polyphonic took forever with Gt5, Team Ico's and mess and there really isn't anything coming out of there in general. Gravity Daze looks like it could be a great game though, very good early reviews.

Apparently they sent the guy who was one of the heads of western games developement at Sony over to Japan to sort that stuff out. Think they need shaking down.

I knew the situation was bad with team ico. However, it looks like this aid will hasten the release of TLG ... at the cost of quality though.

That is, if it releases. Again, I still stand by my prediction that this game will be canned. And now, I honestly hope so.

My thoughts too... I am proud of SONY  for still being dedicated to not only finishing the game but staying true to the vision

Good news, sounds like they were overly ambitious in their vision, again. Hearing it runs even rougher on ps3 then SotC did on ps2 makes me only more curious.
God of war team should be able to help with huge animated objects.

I guess we won't see the full potential of this game until a remake on ps4. I'm ok with that, it should be good enough to revisit as SotC was.

Sort of reminds of Team Bondi with LA Noire. Rockstar main studies just went in and finished it.
