Well PS3 managed not to be last in sales the first week in 2008.  Do you think this trend will continue??

Personally i think those ps3 japanese numbers are a bit high. But if true then good for ps3.

Edit: Yes i think the ps3 will outsell the 360 for the rest of the year, that is of course until ms does a 100 dollar price drop. 

If both 360 and PS3 stay at thier current prices, and assuming you mean worldwide, then I would think the PS3 would continue to outsell on a weekly basis, especially as it has a much better games line-up this year. Of course if Microsft were to cut the price substanially or introduce an as yet unannounced 'killer app' based on a new ip then things could change.

It'll be a week or two more before we can say for sure, but I think the PS3 is going to continue outselling the 360 by at least 10 or 20%.

Until the 360 gets a price cut of course. PS3 sales were at a catastrophic level before the 40GB model brought it back to life, so it'll be very interesting to see what even a cut of 50 will do to the 360.

It will continue with its small lead over the 360, but obviously there will be fluctuations, and the lead will most likely be extrapolated at the end of the year. This week the PS3 had a 70k lead roughly, with Japan sales back to normal, I think this will be around 10-30k for most of the year

All 3 consoles are doing amazing compared to last year's first week

Wii- 299,000
PS3 - 135,000
360 - 144,000

That's an increase of
Wii - 189%
PS3 - 199%
360 - 143%

Let's say hypothetically that these ratios stay the same week to week compared to 2007, then in 2008 this is what we can expect the three consoles to sell:

Wii - 30.6 million (for a grand total of 50.32 million - John Lucas prediction??)
PS3 - 14.85 million (grand total of 23.81 million)
360 - 11.76 million (grand total of 28.09 million)

@ gebx, that is still 10m short of his wii prediction, although the ratios are higher for PS3 because it was supply constrained and only in 2 regions, and the Wii was even mores supply constrained

True, the PS3 will be selling in all three regions, but it was never constrained by supply in 2007.

I think the ps3 will outsell the 360 this year. I think it has enough momentum world wide at this point that the sales will only continue to increase. I also think that the major titles such as GT5, LBP, MGS4, KZII, etc. will be giving it a boost every 2 weeks something major releases once late summer/fall hits. This software should offset a price cut by the 360 IMO.
