WRONG. They are waiting to implement these things with PS4 and waiting for them to become affordable for the mass market.

Until a company releases (or atleast announced) a product there is no reason to believe that they saw value in the technology. |
I'd disagree. It is all about risk and reward. They patent it because they see it as viable down the road and a good idea that they could take advantage of eventually. It is not meaningless in this specific argument because this specific argument is filled with so much BS and propaganda for each persons 'favorite' system, this actually provides some concrete material that at the very least both companies are thinking about things.
It depends on the company, Sony comes out with plenty of new things to the market, it's a prioritization process for them though. Just because Nintendo releases a product first doesn't mean Sony didn't intend to in the near future.
I wouldn't crown Sony as innovators either with this post, I would just say it quiets down the Nintendo is king innovation crowd.

Maybe, but with Move Sony waited until after Nintendo had demonstrated that it was worthwhile before they even annoucned it ...
Realistically, if you read all the patents that have been filed by Sony, Nintendo or Microsoft on user interface devices you would see hundreds of UI concepts that never made it to market because the companies did not see value in them. The fact that Sony filed a patent that loosely resembles a device Nintendo is actually releasing doesn't mean that Sony ever planned on releasing that device.
i patented a time machine back in the year 1600 but i still don't know how to make it. whoever makes it will be a copycat!!
