Talking with very reliable sources, and seeing evidence ourselves, Xbox Evolved believes that Microsoft, Rareware, MGM Studios (studio that makes the James Bond 007 movies) and Activision (holds the license for James Bond 007 titles right now) have come to an agreement to bring the Rareware developed Goldeneye 007 out to Xbox Live Arcade shortly before the new game developed by Activision is released.

The title will feature updated graphics, and of course an all-new Xbox Live multiplayer. Not only that, but we have found evidence that Rareware is planning on releasing even more of their back catalog onto Xbox Live Arcade, specifically, Perfect Dark and the original Banjo-Kazooie. Expect more on at least Goldeneye 007 later this year.
 

 

Sounds pretty sweet for 360 owners.  Goldeneye 007 hasn't aged well on the N64, but who wouldn't like to play it online with better graphics and a solid framerate?

So they can do this without any issue from Nintendo? I just feel like Nintendo should have some claim over the game since they published it.

I could actually see that as being something of a mild system seller, based on the extreme amount of affection much of the gaming public harbors for Goldeneye.

As they stated they have to update graphics and such so they don't release just a clone (I doubt Nintendo would allow them to run a N64 Emu on xbox). So maybe we can still see a VC release after they have sold enough on live. Let's wait and see.

If they added Perfect Dark I would be extremely tempted to buy a 360. I had no plans to do so but in the past few months they have built an impressive library, and considering I had no interest in the first X box that is quite a turnaround.

Although I would wait until the price had dropped and technical issues were sorted. Would love it if they brought out a model without the huge power brick as well.

Its definitely possible. No reason they cant if they work out all the licencing agreements. Rare does own the Perfect Dark and Banjo franchise meaning that Microsoft actually owns them. Its only the Bond licence they would have to work out.

Oooh, that would be AWESOME. The system for shooters getting pretty much the best two shooting games not released on that console. (console shooters that is.)

Also I could play without using the annoying weird N64 controller!
