Haven't gotten it yet, but I'm confident it's good.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 is miles better than FF XIII.
First. It does feels like a Final Fantasy.
Second. More exploration, towns, people. And from what I've played so far, it seems there are more monsters.
Third. The story is actually good (FOR A FINAL FANTASY!!!!!!).
Plus, the fact that you controll a monster is great!!!
I hope that the weapons leveling system isn't as broken as it was in FFXIII. At least the crystarium isn't.

I think that reviewers, are aware that they rated FFXIII badly. It was an awful FF and a mediocre game, but they rated it as if it was a good one. Now they are reating FFXIII-2 (a much better game) worse than the first one...

I've been playing it for roughly 17 hours or so now, and I must say I liked it even at the start but it keeps getting better, and better. Don't really understand the criticism towards the story or the music myself.

I'm just assuming they would rather rave about mythical creatures coming back from the dead. Hehe.

Obviously it is better. FFXIII was deeply flawed and I don't think even SE has the capability of screwing up any further.

I havent played it myself, but the chief criticism i read was about how the story is not well written. they cover up inconsistancies with a 'time paradox' wishy washy notion. apparently the characters are also not that good either. these are the same things that were wrong with the story of FF13 so it dosent really supprise me.

Well I disagree with them.

Considering FF has a long history of mediocre story telling and laughable plot in general, I'm finding critics complaining about the story in FF13-2...ironic, if that's the correct term. Plot was never, ever FF selling point. If I cared about the story FF9 wouldn't be my favourite.

FF12 had the only story I'd bring home to show off to mum and dad, all due to the excellent dialogue and a plot delving into political corruption.

You sir, have an excellent taste indeed

Although I would also put the story of FFIV in line with XII's story, though that's only personal preference, due to the character interactions and tribulatons shown during the game (overall plot is a bit weak and leaves some plot holes that were never fully explained, though since it takes a back-drop to the character's own stories, I can live with that).

Anyway, i'm getting FFXIII-2 next week, so I'll post my own opinion then. FFXIII wasn't my favourite, by far, but not the worst FF as well (by a longshot, for that we have FFII and FFIII), so if it is indeed an improvement, it' a welcomed one.

Holding off my final opinion until I can log in more time but I'm really enjoyong it so far. It's a little girly, though.

How was the restart ? lol

Darndest thing.  When I went to play the game, I decided to use my save file, first (is it possible to have more than one save file?).  It had saved about two minutes before I passed out......in the middle of a cutscene!  Last thing I remembered from that first day was Lightning and Noel fighting some bad guy.  It started right before that.  Pretty awesome!

Of course, I tried to play it again twice since that "restart" and both times, my GF made me stop and do something.  I've decided that I'm not gonna play it unless she's asleep, at work, or at her mom's house.
