Forums - Gaming Discussion - My new theory on the release year of Versus XIII and FFXV.

All debatable!

FFXIII, FFXIII-2 and FFXIV are already confirmed to have released 8 years after FFX, FFX-2 and FFXI.

8 years really is a horrible turnaround time. I really do think they need to rename Versus XIII. The marketing benefits aren't particularly strong for a spinoff title, especially one that's taken so long.

This is my guess, ff13 took them so long to develop, and cost them so much, that they went multiplat. However, Sony flipped their shit and was like, "Fine, we want every other FF exclusive".
Squee was like, "alright, we'll just make 5 FF13s"

I'll be awkward and ask what Product Development Division 2 was doing :P

and Kingdom hearts 1 was released in 2002 in Japan ;)

I didn't say your theory was bad though =p

These development times are ridiculous. but i'm glad that has changed now with Wada. Sqaure did have a lot of problems durng that timeframe as well, with near bankruptcy, the departure of Yasumi Matsuno from FF12, the departure of Sakaguchi.

FF13 was originally designed for the PS2. and on the PS3 they lost about year or more because of the Cystal Tools engine. so these development times wont be happening again imo. FF13-2 came out 2 years after FF13, Wada has told Kitase, that he wants a new game from Kitase's team every two years. meaning FF13's development time will not happen again.

on the point of FF15, this year is the 25th anniversary of the FF series, it had been rumoured that FF15 will be revealed at E3 this year. and Tetsuya Nomura said only yesterday that there is a secret team working on an unnannouced game.

to me, i am very optimisitc that Nomura is refering to the FF12/Tactics team, with Hiroyuki Ito directing and Minagawa writing/producing. to fans such as myself this is a dream. and i cannot wait for the announcement which i think will be at E3, and if not TGS.

Product Development Division 2 made The Last Remnant and the FFCC games.

Also, I put both KH games as 2005 as it's meant to mean when they were both out on the Japanese market. KH2 came out in Japan in December 2005. Versus XIII took this entire gen to make so it's equal to both KH games last gen, IMO.

FFvs13 will get a blowout at E3 this year, if there will be a name change we will know there, I highly doubt it.

FF15 will not be at E3 this year because SE will have FF14 there to re-entice the release of the PS3 version (possibly wiiU/360 announcement for a megaton LOL)

If there is going to be a FF announcement, it will be a FFX first showing or the Dimensions game but I see these two happening at TGS.

well technically the kingdom hearts team released birth by sleep. And some other games.

that's the only flaw I saw.

Also with Versus 2012 and FFXV 2013.

It fits the yearly release of a Final Fantasy, they were talking about or close enough.

... strange thread. Firstly you are assuming they set the exact same timeline for all games. Which simply wouldn't be true.

Secondly why do you have Kingdom hearts 1 and 2 as 2005? They weren't both 2005. It's actually 2002 then 2005

FFX-2 and FFXIII-2 are only 8 years apart if you simply look at year of release and ignore the actual times. March 2003 to December 2011 is 8 years 9 months. If there was that time between Kh2 and Versus it would put versus in 2014

Why are Dissidia, FF3 DS, FF: tactics A2 and gyromancer all missing? Those were all developed by either division 1, 3 or 4.

I simply don't understand the logic at work here at all. So 8 years is somehow magical?

While the year of release for Versus is probably right and possibly ff15 (although that would be very early in the next gens life cycle) I don't understand why you are saying it will be so because 8 years is the norm. Surely you should be saying it will be so because it makes sense with what we know. Although if Versus launches that late it is in trouble, going up against Wii U games and possibly 720/PS4 games.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.
