No ... tbh they're better off buying Take Two ($1b~) if they're going to be in this for the long haul. Bioshock, Red Dead, GTA .. all make very good profit as they sell a crap ton, it'd be a better investment than what Rare ever was, and they wouldn't need to buy 3rd party exclusives (which they will begin to do again next generation)

i couldn't agree more. spend millions for one game or $1b that you would make back in no time with the list of ip mentioned by Seece just by buying them out, but Rockstar can't be bought.

Well if Bioware was able to sell for about a billion, than Take Two  has gotta be worth billions.

Well Rare played a roll in the development of Kinect and Avatars. Throw in a few hits and Rare may have already paid for itself. I believe Nintendo actually pays royalties to sell Rare developed games as well.

As I've mentioned, Take Two is definitely worth more than a billion. Bioware sold for almost a billion and their IPs aren't nearly as popular.

another user i have tons of respect for, but if EA couldn't do it, and Sony hasn't even tried, what interest would MS have in them, also noting the fact they have yet to try aswell?

it seems to me that Take Two knows there worth, and will not be bought for nothing less then what they expect, and that could be more then they're worth.

Yea Take 2 own 15 development studios (that would more than double MS first party) including Rockstar games 8 studios, Firaxis games and Irrational Games. They own such franchises as GTA, Bioshock, Red Dead, Max Payne and Civilisation and a multinational publishing arm, plus an annual income of close to $1b. They would be worth $5b minimum. They turned down a $2b bid from EA without a seccond thought back when they were in a far worse position financialy than they are now.

But they would be a terrible acquisition target as their sports licenses lose money every year and have multiplatform clauses. Their 3rd party publishing deals probably include multiplatform publishing. Their publishing arm would have a lot of redundancy with MS's existing infrastructure etc so would lead to massive lay offs after the acquisition.

They can buy GTA 5 timed exclusivity.......or they can buy CoD timed exclusivity. They do neither. They will do neither.

They only buy timed exclusivity of new IPs for eg ME 1, Alan wake, Bioshock, Lost Planet, and others...Besides, GTA is stronger on PS, it would make little sense for Rockstar to not release it on there.

No it isn't.

It is. It has always been. GTA 4 had an exclusive DLC along with a bigger install base in America for the 360, and yet

1
Grand Theft Auto IV (X360)
Rockstar Games, Action
5.10 0.13 2.69 9.24
2
Grand Theft Auto IV (PS3)
Rockstar Games, Action
3.51 0.38 3.16 8.72

Not much difference there, now is there? Released back in 2007 as well. If a GTA is released now it will easily outsell the 360 version. As long as its available on the PS3 in time.

LOL 'it always has been' yet you show me figures where it's 500k ahead on X360, and I don't give a crap for the reasons why, that still means it's ahead and stronger on X360. Given you have no idea how a GTA would sell today, pipe down.

LOL I said its stronger on a "PS". So learn to read.

Its common sense, you don't care for the reason, that doesn't really matter now, does it? Is it stronger on playstation? It is. 500k is like 5% of the sales....lmao. What was the difference in console userbase back then? More than 50%. ( PS3 : 11 million, 360 : 17 million)

And yet the difference in software is not that big. So yeah, it is stronger on a PS brand, deal with it.

No it is not common sense, it's simply your opinion.

Since your so sure that GTA will sell better on PS3 than the 360 do you want to make a bet?

I'll make a bet for the fun of it. I do believe GTA5 will do better on PS3. What are your wages sir.

Well first off the bet is off if either MS or Sony do something that gives them a clear advantage like timed exclusives, exclusive DLC, ect.

Anyways when GTA V releases we give it 3 or 6 months of sales (whichever one you prefer) before either one wins the bet. If 6 months after the release of GTA V the PS3 version is ahead you will win, if the 360 version is ahead I will win.

And I submit that the wages are 1 month sig control.

I want in saying it will sell the most on the Wii U.

It should be more like a year or this IZo guy has no chance. Everybody knows 360 is fast starter and quicker finisher well the ps3 is a slow burner.

It would be pointless to do timed exclusivity. Maybe at the start of the next generation but not this late in the game.

Well this is a fattyDingDong thread which are always absurd and meant to annoy people. So that is why I think it will be a Wii U exclusive.

No I don't care for your reasons, they're shit. Cherrypick whatever you like to suit your needs but the LTD sales dictate where it's most strongest.

Given it's a franchise that does well in America, and X360 is by far the dominant console there, it's stupid to assume PS3 would run away with sales.

Cherrypicking? I am not cherrypicking anything.

LTD sales are almost equal (+/- 10%, remember?), and 360 has had to have an 1) exclusive DLC, 2) higher userbase to achieve it.

The America argument really doesn't work because a lot of games like final fantasy also sell well in America but didn't on 360. At least in comparison to PS3. The 360 version of GTA will always outsell the PS3 version in America though.

Since everyone is disagreeing with you, I'd just like to add that I think you're right, and your argument is good imo.

It's really logical to me... How ''strong'' a specific IP is on a specific console literally means the propensity it has to sell on that platform. In other words, if the two console versions were on equal footing (marketing, content, user base etc.), then I would definitely agree that the PS3 version would sell more.

It certainly shouldnt be, GTAIV could end up selling better on PS3, which is very impressive considering the advantages Xbox had when GTAIV was released.

GTAV may sell better on PS3.
