They are fanboys.

The rating section actually was created to keep fanboys busy voting for games for their systems of choice and thus distracting them from the forum, so that the reasonable people don't have to deal with them all the time.


Or go to the opposing consoles games and give them all 1's just for fun.

Anonymous voting that doesn't require registeration, or even check how many times you've voted doesn't work well. It gives something of a picture of what games are most popular on a certain platform, but cross-platform it just becomes a popularity contest, and we all know how popularity contest end up: hordes of complaining Sony fans.

The system should be changed.

1) Vote could be added only by registered users.
2) only once.
3) there should be history of votes on that game.
4) user also should have vote history, that anyone could see, what scores he is giving.
5) there should be also diagrams on sciore.

That would be perfect rating system on vgchartz, imo.
you can see how many 10, 9, 8 game got.
You can see how many games user rated and what score he made.
