Forums - General Discussion - NASA says end of the world in 2012 isn't going to happen!

We all remember siting down at the movie theater to watch the biggest apocalyptic end of the world film to be released that year. The film knowing had a huge premise that a massive solar flare emitted from the sun would wipe the earth out by scorching the surface burning up everything that covered the earth.

Many scientists and doomsday conspiracy theorists have supported this theory. Some have suggested that this huge solar flare will be coming in 2012 and spell the end of mankind. But NASA claims that there is no scientific evidence to suggest that the Earth is going to be destroyed in 2012!

Well according to NASA these guys are wrong, the likely hood of the world ending in 2012 is highly unlikely  "Most importantly, however, there simply isn't enough energy in the sun to send a killer fireball 93 million miles to destroy Earth,"

A second major theory supported by conspiracy theorists and some rogue scientists claim that the planet Nibiru is hurtling towards earth and sometime during 2012 will crash into us. Nibiru is believed to be roughly 4x the size of earth and its impact would eradicate all life on earth. However NASA points out "There's no planet Nibiru, there's no Planet X, and nothing is hurtling toward us."

Don Yeomans, manager of the Near-Earth Object Office at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif. followed his colleagues comments  "I'm not going to lay in any extra supplies — no survival gear,"  saying "I'm just going to lay in an extra supply of egg nog for the coming holiday season."

"There's no evidence whatsoever for Nibiru," and no evidence that the Sun is capable of creating a solar flare that could actually wipe out earth. People can relax and be rest assured that scientifically speaking the Earth can't possibly be destroyed in 2012!

of course it wont, people will just get microchipped =P

wait let me guess ..being that i read the title without reading the whole thread i guess im missing out on something like i did on your last thread right?

hmm

Not saying I believe it will end (because I don't necessarily), but I think NASA is implying it won't end in the way the movies show it (obviously). NASA themselves has an extreme solar storm warning out for the end of 2012 into early 2013. NASA scientists themselves have said that while it will likely won't have super huge effects, it could wipe out power for many people for months, along with plenty of other quite horrible things.

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

I am really tired to having to prepare for apocalypse year after year only to be disappointed.

No shit.

the world isn't gonna end but alot of other things are looking to happen next year

let take all 'real' warning:

solar storm -electricity could be wiped out

IRAN war aka WW3 - USAISRAEL trying to start another war which could become WW3 as China warns USA of getting closer and Russia also not liking it

Financial Collapse - the world is in deep debt with western economies not able to pay back the debt

"NASA says end of the world in 2012, isn't going to happen!"

Sorry, but that virgule is killing me. It causes ambiguity in the phrase. Please, edit the title.

Solar storm could possibly knock out electricity for large parts of America and other countries. But power could be restored fairly quickly the United States military has a plan drawn up in the case of an EMP attack. The military says they could restore order within 8 months if the entire country went dark. I doubt that this solar flare could spell the end for the United States let alone the world.

An Iranian war would not be WW3 the Arab League would likely support the action if it were taken by the United States with the support of Saudi Arabia. The Muslim world fears Iran's growing influence and the fact that they could soon have nuclear capabilities scares a lot of them. China and Russia would condemn the military action but wouldn't likely intervene. Also it is highly unlikely Israel or the US would actually deploy troops onto Iranian soil. The most likely scenerio is that Israel would hit all the nuclear facilities with bunker busters, air strike the Iranian defence department and several military instillations. Cripple Iran's air force and severly damage their missile defence network. In fact the closest I could see America/Israel coming to an all out incursion would be for them to supply rebels and protestors within Iran and allow them to take down the Government in a bloody civil war. If any country were to actually send in ground forces the Arab League would be most likely to do so, whether it be Saudi Arabia or another country.

If Iran sent forces into neighbouring Iraq and Afghanistan then I could see US forces actually invading Iran. However I do not think the US has intentions of invading or occupying Iran, they are tired of trying to stabalize Afghanistan and Iraq and realize an incursion into Iran would mean at least another 5-10 year commitment. One the US won't make!

As for China and Russia, neither are going to instigate a war with the United States. If any war does occur it will be a cold war, indirect and even it exploded into WW3 the four main players (China,India,Russia,Nato) wouldn't likely attempt to crush one another directly. In other words the world even as we know it wouldn't come to an end.

Financial collapse also can't end the world. It could radically change the world but not end it.

All the doom and gloom messages suggest an apocolyptic ending. It would take an act of God to destroy the earth and all the humans on it.
