Really? Definitely looked like a tropical forest to me, and Sully called it a "jungle".

Nah. I think Sully was just making a joke, like he does lol. I definately think it was a just a standard forest. Isn't Naughty Dog based in France? I am sure they know better. :P

There is actually such thing as a temperate rain forest, as opposed to tropical rain forests. No idea if France has any, but I am pretty sure there are some rather lush and vegetated areas.

Another example of a temperate rain forest would be on the Olympic peninsula in Washington state.

Actually that map isn't super accurate as Northern Australia particularly North Queensland have Tropical Rainforest's ,the most famous one is the Daintree Rainforest google it, and the Port Douglas resort is famous for it's slogan "Where the Rainforest meets the Reef " (great barrier reef) .

This part is not aimed at you , I live in the Australian State of Tasmania and it's Southern latitude is similar to the south of Frances Northern Latitude and has a Mediterranean climate as well ,we have Rainforest here they are called Temperate Rainforest's also I  remember seeing a film about a French man who bought back tropical plants from around the world and planted them at his villa and they grew remarkably well .

Naughty Dog is based in Santa Monica but the co president is French, Christophe Balestra.

He was making a joke, but it was a joke about the ridiculousness of finding a jungle in France. Naughty Dog is based in California.
