My hatred for Microsoft

My friends taunting me about "how terrible Xbox is"

That's it. I think of Western games because that's what I bought my Xbox 360 for. I think of party chat because that's one of the things I enjoy doing most on my 360. I think of RROD because of how bad it has impacted the console's reputation and how widespread the problem was. I think of my hatred for Microsoft because I also associate Xbox with other Microsoft products and the company as a whole. Lastly, I think about my friends taunting me about "how terrible Xbox is" because every time I mention Xbox in a conversation with them they tend to take the piss out of it, especially if I bought a multiplatform game on Xbox. The worst is when a game commercial comes on and when the Xbox logo comes up they can't resist but make some kind of negative comment.

Damn dude, it sounds like you have it bad. I mean online fanboys are one thing, very easy to brush off, but your real friends acting like dicks about it kinda sucks.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

Love.

I tolerate other platforms for exclusives, but I love my Xbox, and Xbox Live and Halo and the 360 controller and just about everything else.

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

Shooters. That's the first thing that comes to mind. But after some thought, dedication comes to mind because carving yourself a place in the console industry is not an easy task and Microsoft pulled it off brillantly. I remember thinking that they would fail and abandon the project after a few years when the original XBox was announced but they proved me wrong.

They are very jokey about it, it's just banter really, they still play it when they are round mine and don't complain.

I think the reason why they do it specifically to me is because I convinced them all to buy a PS3, and as soon as they did I bought an Xbox, I haven't been able to escape it since.

I see, that's not bad at all then. I guess it's your fault :)

I'll answer my own thread -

Halo - The first Xbox was mainly bought for two games (H1 and H2).

Shooters - While there is more variety, the core fans of the console are still FPS fans for the most part.

Americans - Disproportionately likes the Xbox more than other countries. Took the original Xbox seriously while it was kind of a joke in other parts of the world for being so big with such a huge controller.

Racist / Homophobic preteen boys with unchanged voices - PSN has their share too, but Xbox Live is a more known as an online service.

Frat Boys / Jocks - Xbox seemed to be the console that "cool kids" who used to make fun or people like me who played video games embraced.

Gaming Press's Darling - Face it, the gaming press is usually much less critical to MS than they are to Nintendo and Sony. Halo is considered the "standard" for which games are compared to. The press was also not too hard on them for the RROD scandal.

Failure in Japan - self explanatory.

Better versions of multiplat games (usually).

Poor Hardware Reliability.

Peter Moore > Don Mattrick - when Don took over, they slimmed down their internal development alot.

Great controller for shooters. Not so great for fighting games.

As for me, I ignored the Xbox until they started catering to the Japanese market. Once they started ignoring the Japanese market again, I ignored the Xbox again. I have a 360, but I play it much less now than the Wii or PS3.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Conservatives:  Pushing for a small enough government to be a guest in your living room, or even better - your uterus.

Halo was the first thing that popped up

The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of the Xbox brand is FPS games and sports games.

The second thing that comes to my mind is that I haven't personally seen anyone playing an xbox or xbox360 in years. I know many people do because the internet tells me so, but anecdotal experience has been the opposite.
