Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why are devs so afraid of make unfair battles?

In term of numbers.

Your party setup consist of, usually, 3 to 4 members. The enemy counters net you the similar amount from 1 to 3-4 enemies.

So, you ended up with 3v3 or 4v4. Why are they so afraid of doing 3v6 or even 3v9?

The baddies don't play fair. They certainly shouldn't care about outnumbering you.

If you actually run into large group of enemies once a while, you could actually make use of that useless "escape" command.

Because, this gen train people to want to aquire Skill. They'd be yelling for a Patch and saying the game broke because it challenges them, breaking there immersion by having them actually focus on the game

Unfair battles? Have you ever awoken in your house in Minecraft only to see a creeper smile then blow up your bedroom? Have you ever walked out of the house you spent countless hours making in Minecraft only to have a creeper drop from the roof and blow up in a second what you spent hours agonizing over? Have you ever collected close to a 64 stack of iron ore, 14 gold ore, and 8 diamond ore only to have a creeper blow you up a half mile underground where for some reason you don't remember exactly how you got there and you don't know how to get back?

I have seen plenty of unfair battles this generation. Goddamn creepers blowing up my day.

What games have you been playing? Most games have you vastly outnumbered by the enemies.

His xxample looks like a RPG reference. .. what he means are enemies that aggressions. You may have tons of enemies in GoW or Dynasty Warriors but when AI is stupid as hell does it matter? its still balanced .. they have quantity and you have Quality, now what if they Quality and Quality? Why are developer scared to do that?

Well as far as RPG games are concerned I guess he's right. I have yet to see a RPG game that has Quality and Quantity. Although I imagine the combination would be incredibly hard.

That happens in every game. Every game(xxcept demons Souls which goes in favor of enemies) has a balance system that in account everything you can and what possible equipment/skills/whatever you have, xxample: the game knows that the long sord weapon you just got is best weapon you can have, and lv10 "should be the average (not the highest ) level you reach so adjust this area to compensate for that.. When you play your little shooters, with enemies serving as nothing but targets which you heat shot like nothin... why cant they near human like abilities? When you play GoW3 why are the enemies that outnumber you nowhere nears as agressive as you? you pounding them into ground and there just circling around you takin little jabs.

Eh i'd have to disagree with you on the every game part. Go play Halo Reach with all the skulls on Legendary with 4 person co-op...guarantee you would get ripped in half. COD games on the highest difficulty are sometimes so hard the game just feels cheap.

Sure there are a lot of games that do that but there are more that are just crazy tough than you think.
