Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Vote Now! Your Favorite DS Games of All Time!

It was late 2004 (or early 2005 for you Europeans) when the blocky beast was first released, and it's been quite an adventure since then. It was initially met with musch scepticism, and many doubted that it could continue's Nintendo success in the handheld market... but here we are in 2011 with three redesigns, a multitude of colors, and almost 150 million units sold across the world. The Nintendo DS is the Japanese giant's most successful piece of hardware ever, and while the hardware has become a slick piece of machinery by itself... it wouldn't be anywhere without the plethora of games.

Now that the DS is in the twilight of its career, it's time for gamrConnect to fondly remember the games that made the DS what it is today!

1-Chrono Trigger
2-Final Fantasy 3
3-Final Fantasy 4

That's all for now.

Why do I love Chrono Trigger? Why do I love Back to the Future? I'll tell you why, it's the time travel and how things change in different times. Chrono Trigger is possibly one of my most favorite games of all time.

10. Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver

(A Pokemon following you may not be seen as a huge gameplay addition, but man oh man... those little critters were just so adorable!)

9. Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story

(Once again proves the point that being the bad guy is oh so fun. Bowser steals the show with his hilarious dialogue and great gameplay elements.)

8. Super Scribblenatus

(Flying Pinstriped Evil Zombified Giant Penguin versus a Glorious Steel Holy Masked Pokadot Knight? Nothing more needs to be said.)

7. Okamiden

(Chibiterasu is the most adorable protagonist ever. EVER! Oh, and the game is great as well!)

6. Mario Kart DS

(Bringing the fun of Mario Kart online for the first time, and with 16 awesome new tracks... this was where the multiplayer fun was on the DS!)

5. Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow

(Soma Cruz's second adventure provided goregeous visuals and deep, rewarding gameplay. Didn't get much better than this folks.)

4. Pokemon Diamond/Pearl

(The game where I first got into competitive Pokemon... and 250 hours later I'm a better gamer for it! Piplup 4 Lyfe!)

3. New Super Mario Bros.

(Mario's first 2D outing in... 16 years? New Super Mario Bros. renewed my love for Mario's 2D platforming bliss.)

2. Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia

(First of all, this is my favorite Castlevania game ever... secondly... Shanoa I love you! That is all... #>_>#)

1. Pokemon Black/White

(With a completely new roster and a wonderful world to explore, Pokemon Black/White might be the best Pokemon ever... and that's saying something!)

1. Mario Kart DS
2. Tetris DS
3. Meteos
4. Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
5. Pokemon HeartGold
6. ClubHouse Games
7. New Super Mario Bros.
8. Pokemon Diamond
9. Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker
10. Dragon Quest IX

I'm not about to do reverse order. Hard enough to think em up in normal order, and I'm too lazy to reorganize.

It's all good. As long as you have them numbered there's really no problem.

1) Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Trials & Tribulations

The game of gen for me. Beautiful story, beautiful design, amazing music. You even forget it's only a game while playing it!

2) Dragon Quest IX

The surprise of 2010 for me. I was waiting for it but I didn't think it could be that great. One of the best RPGS on DS.

3) Animal Crossing Wild World

Animal Crossing is the franchise I love the most from Nintendo, and ACWW is the best episode. I can't count how many hours (hundrer hours?) I lost on it!

4) Mario Kart DS

Missions, online, snaking and Dry Bones. THE racing game for DS.

5) Pokemon Black/White edition

A real new gen for Pokemon, I liked most of the new features...but why GameFreak can't push their games' graphics? Hopefully on 3DS they will.

6) Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective

Another masterpiece from Takumi, repetitive gameplay but great story and characters.

7) Professor Layton and the Unwound Future

Layton always had a great gameplay system, but the story became great too only in the last game of the trilogy, which makes it my favourite Layton game.

8) Golden Sun:Dark Dawn

I would be completely satisfied by it if it wasn't for the first two Golden Sun games...this is full of nostalgia, but still just a prologue for a full Golden Sun game.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

DS, the system with the best ever lineup of games IMO, limiting it to just 10 is hard.

10. Metroid Prime: Hunters
9. Dragon Quest IX
8. Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
7. Final Fantasy Tactics A2
6. Advance Wars: Dark Conflict
5. Final Fantasy IV DS
4. Chrono Trigger DS
3. The World Ends With You
2. Pokemon Black/White
1. Mario Kart DS

1 The World Ends With You The best rpg of the geration and easily one of the best of all time.
2 999: 9 Hours. 9 Persons, 9 Doors The best visual novel game ever, so many plot twists in the end that will make your brain explode.
3 Radiant Historia Time Travel + Great story + Nice Battle System = Incredible Game
4 Elite Beat Agents Addictive music game that will test your might with the stylus
5 Castlevania Order of Eclesia A tough as nails action game that is worthy of the castlevania brand
6 Pokemon Black/White New pokemon and an impressive online structure make this one of the best pokemon games to be released on a handled.
7 Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor The best strategy game on the DS with a tough difficulty and great story with multiple endings.
8 Okamiden Not only has the best 3d graphics for the ds, it is also its best adventure game.
9 Call of Duty Black Ops The best shooter on the ds complete with a lengthy campaign, online and even the zombies mode with more maps than its console counterparts.
10 Chrono Trigger The best game of all time ported to our loved handled. It could easily be #1, but its a port so other ds games need more spotlight.

Honorable Mentions: Rune Factory, The Last Window The Secret of Cape West, Bleach Dark Souls, Trauma Center, Dragon Quest 9, Super Robot Taisen, Ghost Trick, Super Scribblenauts, Professor Layton, FF4, Sonic Colours.... I could keep going but lets leave it at that =).

1. Chrono Trigger. Even if a port, it is the port of the perfect game.
2. Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations.
3. Professor Layton and the Unwound Future.
4. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.
5. Professor Layton and the Curious Village.
6. Mario Kart DS.
7. Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective.
8. Professor Layton 2 (Forgot the name).
9. Phoenix Wright: Justice for All
10. New Super Mario Bros.

So, as you can see, there is a reason I have a crazy hype for Layton x Phoenix

I'm only going to include 1 game from a franchise, otherwise they'll be too many Layton and Pokemon games on my list :P Even taking this into consideration, this was really difficult and I know that there are so many great games that I've missed out on my list :(

1. Pokemon Black/White
2. Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
3. Advance Wars: Dark Conflict (I can't remember what they call it in the US)
4. Mario Kart DS
5. Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations
6. Professor Layton and the Lost Future
7. Elite Beat Agents
8. Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
9. The World Ends With You
10. New Super Mario Bros
