Forums - Nintendo Discussion - (Rumor) Famitsu had a sneak peak at Nintendo 3DS peripheral (dual analog)

So, does anyone know yet if this will be necessary to play the game or if it'll be optional just like the Classic Controller?

Optional from what I've read. You can use the touch screen instead.

If this is an optional add-on for MH, then it's silly, but acceptable.

If this is a compulsory add-on for MH, then it's stupid, but still acceptable.

If If this is an optional add-on for many future games, then it's very stupid, and it's testing Nintendo's consumers' patience.

If this is a compulsory add-on for future games and leading to a redesign, then it's one of the stupidest things Nintendo has ever done, and totally unacceptable.

Hopefully it's one of the first two.

This more or less reflects my opinion. It's actually brilliant if this is just an optional (or even compulsory) MH add-on, as the consumer ill-will will be far more than offset by the Japanese sales, but if its going to be the new mandatory standard for 3DS games, Nintendo can go straight to hell

I'm guessing, tentatively, that it's going to see limited use like the Classic Controller Pro, and still be optional. I mean classic controller was optional on Monster Hunter Tri, they can definitely make it work with what the 3DS has without having to get that thing

Likely they made the pad as an incentive to the MH guys, just like they did with CC Pro, and anyone else who uses the pad will just be an afterthought...

it's entirely up to nintendo on this one.

...if this is just an add-on no developer will make use of it just like the CC and the move and the motion plus ect. developers don't like limiting their audience.

...if nintendo releases a redesign with the second nub build it. sorry nintnedo fans, time to either pony up for a new console or get used to the ugly attachment.

The Move has alot of games that support it, more the M+ and Kinect combined, dont know where people get this Move gets no support nonsense. CC?? Are you kidding me?? Just about every non motion game released on Wii has the option to use CC. M+, that thing sucks for support.

OT im just gonna hold off for now on getting one of these, until the questions have been cleared up. It  looks cumbersome and if its just gonna be for MH, no biggie, i dont like that series. If they are just preparing for a redesign, I'll wait for that, but in that scenario, it will show that Ninty didnt really learn anything form Wii

on paper it does, but a couple of mini-games in the sly cooper collection doesn't make me feel like that is a move game despite owning it.  same with LBP (although i reserve the right to change my mind post upcoming DLC).  then some of the games were just disappointing (echrome ii i'm looking at you).

gnaw; move, kinect, motion plus -- all imo disappointing in terms of support.  i'm not surprised but i'm also not happy about it.

Oh well, at least this shuts up people that think Nintendo get it right every time.

So no redesigned 3ds?

Is there even a point to this comment other than "lolz just proves Nintendo isn't perfect all you Nintendo lovers!" which is just baiting (even though I know nothing will be done about it)

Glad people have started to ignore these comments, I personally don't care simply because I'm not going to respond to you after this, but wanted to point out no one thinks Nintendo gets it right every time, virtual boy, ROB, Steel Diver, and the original Wii Play prove that point, therefore it makes saying this (a product that is leaked, not shown off, nor has anyone even gotten a hands on with it to prove it's a mistake) is somehow the product that proves Nintendo makes mistakes is rather pointless due to the aforementioned reasons... it isn't even fucking out... if you wanted to make that sort of comment why not make your own thread and discuss all of the mistakes Nintendo makes, so you can blatantly say "haha Nintendo doesn't get it right everytime", sure it's baiting, but not like you'd get in trouble for it.

IF the redesign rumors are true, than I think they were a bit naive in the planning stages of 3ds..Strategically, I think they relied too much on "3D" to deliver, that they overlook the relevance of other key features. But somehow, I still dont see PSV taking over 3DS..lol..Nintendo has a solid library and its still early days for 3DS (they can afford to make changes this early)

Yeah, having read some more it seems it's just an optional add-on, made for this game. So if you want to play Classic Controller style then the add-on is for you, otherwise you can just use the touchscreen.

In other words, I'm glad I didn't jump the gun and joined the meltdowners...

i wasnt even thinking about Sly Cooper and LBP2 does have that prehistoric moves game that came with it, which was its own thing anyway. Resistance just came out, and uses it. There was some puzzle game on PSN. HOTD Overkill, NBA2K12, Rune Factory, Goldeneye, Just Dance, Eyepet2, That carnival game ripoff that SM studios is making, that crappy dancing game that Sony is making. But I feel you, you have every right to fell dissapointed. I think the Move support is ok. Now M+ dont know WTF happened there, that dissapoints me

That thing is big and ugly, might have to buy a bundle for monster hunter anyways though, I've always hated eagle clawing that shit on psp
