Regardless of how you wish it, Faith and Religion can not adequately at this time be disproven completely.

 

You wonder why people seek God in this "enlightened" age? It's because this age isn't as enlightened as you might like. When a person's situation is desperate, Religion and/or Faith can be comforting and, more than that, drives them do better themselves. Even if the effort is mislead by others, it's a motivation that always seems out of reach of understanding and therefore always has that higher existence appeal.

First I don't think you can compare religion to science. Science is a moving target. Science 'Facts' change all the damn time! It used to be a scientific 'fact' that Saturn had 9 rings. Well, now we know it has thousands. Truth is there is no such thing as Science 'fact'. Everything is science theory and is only excepted as truth until something comes along and disproves it. Which happens daily.

Religion on the other hand rarely if ever changes. Nor should it. The two are not comparible in my opinion.

I see proof of God's existence every day in a thousand different ways. One of the most simpliest to understand and profound ways is in walking into any AA (or any 12 step program) and seeing people who could not possibly stop drinking (or whatever) literally to save their lives (any many, many died pitifully dispite all efforts to save them and dispite all supreme acts of will prior to AA), nor has science ever found a way to stop them, find peace, joy and soberity through the grace of God (as they understand him).

Please explain to me what the use of prayer is? or any kind of contact to god...

The church sold spots for heaven to murderers and torturers for money, they let you confess your sins and if you make a nice deposit your sins are forgiven, priests are molesting little boys all over the world.

Religion is nothing... not even your high priests believe in god because surely that would stop them from molesting children.

1. You only know Chritianity (and perhaps Islam) I would induce from these statements.

2. The church is hardly representing what Jesus taught at all.

3. Prayer as a contract is not advised by any prophet/saint/messiah/teacher from any tradition.

Are you so violently opposed to the benefits of meditation as well?

How can you be so dismissive about something you know nothing about?

May I ask what religion you practice?

 

If you practice Christianity I find it highly stupifying you count meditation as a religious practice because it's never mentioned in the bible... It's a practice to find inner peace trough silence and relaxation.. there is nothing religious about meditation... even if it is used in religions.

 

and incase you did not notice, thi si snot a religion vs atheism debate..

 

this is an islam vs christianity vs jewism vs atheism vs buddhism vs etc.

 

All religions say they are the only right religion... sounds like russian roulette VS sanity to me.

The biggest mistake you're making in your anti-religious shenanigans is you are lumping virtually ALL religions into one.

If you're a true christian you realize its not about "being religious" it's about accepting Jesus into you're heart to become saved and loving on others.

 

Think about it this way. We can't disprove or prove God is real but if you're right and there is no God, Heaven and Hell than no harm no foul for me seeing as I lived a good life. But if you're wrong and there is a God, Heaven and Hell....well you know the consequences if you are wrong.
