Forums - Sales Discussion - Americas UP! (27th August 2011)

Looks like it was perfect timing for the 3DS price drop.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

On another note, never noticed how close DS LTD is to PS2 LTD.

A) we don't even count that deal AFAIK and B) that deal isn't even going.

And consumers arnt dumb for not picking your console of choice (Osamaobama) over 360 ...

OT: Good for Deus Ex.

PS3 price cut... no hardware boost... no software boost... no GT5 boost (4,633 - down wow).

I expect adjustments soon.

The UNDERTRACKEDZ returned.

Aka, 'PS3 isn't as high as I'd like it, so it's undertracked, as I have no actual evidence of it being undertracked'

You're up pretty early. You have to admit though, the lack of SW boost is rather odd. Especially Infamous 2, which is bundled. In fact almost this this EXACT same scenario happened last year. PES 2011 was bundled in EU but for some reason the site forgot to track it. Shortly afterwards there were rather dramatic adjustments.

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

I like how every single time a platform underperforms, it is undertracked.

I expected the 3DS to sell a billion units post-price cut. It didn't, something really strange is going on!

Here's hope for a 200k week for the PS3.

If you include the fact that you can get a Xbox360 for FREE in US without much effort the sales are disappointing .

Wow @ 3DS!

And this is after the PS3 price cut? Damn, the Playstation brand has really lost its power in Americas.
Maybe my expectations were unrealistic, but I was expecting it to be in the 80k-110k range.
