Forums - Microsoft Discussion - New 360 to be announced at E3 2012 with Timesplitters 4 - Crytek

i think the best thing would be a end of year 2013 launch for both ps4 and 360 they should start together

Sounds like a possibility. Announce the console at E3 2012 and launch holiday of 2013 or so.

That would leave us with roughly another 2 years or so with the 360 as the main MS platform. That sounds about right to me.

I don't see this being true. Microsoft needs Kinect to simmer a little longer before going on to the next console. Plus I still haven't seen any games that convince me that the hardware is hitting its ceiling

They could still have Kinect support with their new console though (which I'm sure they will).I feel like MS would want to one up Nintendo now that they've put the cards on the table with their new console. Plus, I'm sure they wouldn't mind getting another head start on Sony, as it's single handedly the reason Xbox 360 is currently ahead of the PS3 in lifetime sales.

I think 2013 for the new Xbox, and late 2013/early 2014 for PS4.

TIMESPLITTERS 4 BITCHESSS!!!!!

Hopefully X720 & PS4 release at the same time. I don't won't another launch like the PS3.

Given how Sony have managed to comeback, the only thing they'll want to avoid next gen is losing so much money, everything else they can muddle through and come out the other side ok, so I see them fine launching a year later than the 720. I also see them and MS fine launching at $499

I was kind of hoping for a 2013 release, well we still may see that after all this is just a rumour for now.

As for price is see anywhere between $400 -$500 being likely, especially if it releases a year or so befor the PS4 so that it can ride profitability and then cut severely to impact the PS4s release a bit, if it launches closer to the PS4s launch then absolutely no higher than $450.

Yes, I know that I was saying it would be a good idea to integrate in the system, not just be compatible. Sadly the kinect has those damn limitations though!

What limitations? We already explained why it would be a terrible idea to integrate the Kinect into the actual Xbox itself.  As for being compatible, they wouldn't have to do anything to make Kinects work with all future Xbox's, and as I mentioned in my very first comment in this thread (not in reply to you, though), they could actually make improvements to Kinect's capabilities without having to do anything to the Kinect hardware itself.

Well that's great then if micorsoft can in fact improve on kinect, make it so that it doesn't need to stay 3-6 feet above ground. That way it would actually be smart to integrate it into their next xbox if they plan to release it so early.

No, it's still a stupid idea!! Kinect needs to be center to your TV, it's not possible for it to be playable 1ft off the ground ... that isn't a tech thing, that's the camera needing to see the whole room and you, whilst you move. The camera adjusts to the person in front of it.
