Forums - Gaming Discussion - Do People Still Care About Exclusives?

I still care, i like going "haha i get to play infamous!" =p

Around the Network

Hardly anyone reads the post and just responds to the thread title.

I am now fully apathetic when a 3rd party goes multiplat because most of them already have. It is now the jop of the hardware maker to make them stand out. Good point original poster.

I expect both Agent and FF vs XIII to be only timed releases or full blown multiplat games from the start.

i don't care about exclusives, all i want is N games ^^

it's like sonic fans, they still play it on other consoles.

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

don't care about exclusive, i only care about localization

I still tend to think that exclusives are usually better than multiplat games, however, I don't care if a game is exclusive or not if it's good enough.

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

Most of the best games each generation are exclusives. You don't see many multiplat games getting higher metacritic scores than exclusives. Generally multiplats are games meant to make money, whereas exclusive focus more on the quality and are much more memorable.

Some people seem to prefer a game because it's exclusive--like it makes it better because other people can't play it.  I think people should like a game because it's good.  If the game is good, why should it matter if it's exclusive or not.  There's a lot of exclusive bullshit games out there, too.

Personally, no.  I don't care about exclusives.  I just want to be able to play the games I want to play.

That's a hell of a list, Aldro.  Very diverse, too. For a certain audience, it's very impressive.  Some people may even be jealous.  But for a majority of people, it doesn't matter if these games were exclusive, multi-plat, first party, or third party.  They're just games that they can buy.  And in all honesty, even though these games are good (sometimes, GREAT!), they aren't the ones people end up buying or caring about.

As far as the PS3 is concerned, things like free online, Blu Ray, pricing, and media options probably do more as far as selling the system than any of the games on that list.  Exclusives are a small piece of a much bigger pie.
