@alby da wolf  i agree with everything you said but IMHO i think Sony is doing a better job with support of their motion thing that Ninty, they've gotten more third parties involved and a few of their 1st party titles are supporting it, not to mention the dozens of PSN games. oh sure there not making alot of MOVE only retail games, but that would be suicide. At the very least KZ3, LBP2, HR, MAG, Sly Collection, all Move compatible. RE5, Time Crisis, Deblob 2, Virtua Tennis 4, Ea sports active, RUSE, Bowling, DDR, NBA 2k11, MJ experience, audiotorium HD, DS extraction. Those are just off the top of my head and thats already alot more than what we've seen for Motion . and ive left out some MOVE only titles

True: in PS Move case, the negative factor with the highest weight is its late release, but Sony did anyway the right thing launching it, to gather experience and drive down costs as early as possible.

^^^ im actually shocked that SOny followed up and got support for the damn thing. I was expecting them to pull an Eyetoy and just let it die. Its crazy how it is the worst selling of the addons but has the most support and the one with the highest install has as much games as i have fingers. i think Move is a great piece of tech, despite being a super Wiimote, but the impartial gamer in me, cant really recommend it. I mean HR, Killzone3, RE5, TC is more fun with Move but not that much. Love Motion  sucks it gets no support

^^

Next gen every console will need high precision motion control. Being committed to use it in more hardcore games together with more casual ones should pay Sony quite nicely then. Funny thing, the PC started experimental motion control (well, actually before mainstream PCs, the pioneers were high-end workstations in the late 80's and early and mid 90's, then came Mattel in console world with the Power Glove made for Ninty consoles), or better, the first viable models were developed on PC before current gen consoles (Power Glove sucked hard), but PC was and still is slowed in its adoption by the typical way it's used, sitting at a desk and closer to the monitor, so with less freedom ov movement. Anyway, with so many mainstream models available, PC too will see a wider adoption of motion control, but not as much as consoles. But everything helps, 3rd parties will be pushed to develop better multiplat games with motion control as the total installed base combined of consoles plus PC will skyrocket, largely exceeding the already wider than expected one of Wii plus Kinect plus Move.

What the Wii did wrong was they designed a $200 system to be profitable and then sold it @ $250 when for the first few years the market wanted to pay $300 or more. Had they designed it as a $300 system to begin with probably most of the major complaints leveled at it would have been averted. The Nintendo Wii of today would have been a significantly different system had they released a Wii * 3 in terms of performance and it would have made the system into a viable machine for current generation HD ports albeit at 480P instead of 720P.

WM Plus should have been there in the beginning but can't really go back and change that now.  They also fouled up on the implementation of WM plus.  I was just wanting to point out that while Nintendo might not be the first to implement new control schemes they definitely make new control schemes popular (analog sticks, motion controls, dual screens, etc..)

The gyroscope needed wasn't small and affordable enough in 2006. It wasn't until around 2008. So should can't change couldn't.

If Nintendo never planned on having the thing from the start, why was it featured on the first trailer revealing the controller? Check around the 1 minute mark.

Why do you assume that's a WM unit when there's actually nothing to support that?

Since the Wiimote shown is a late prototype (square power button, non-trigger B-button, no speaker grille), and that box has a nunchuk cable coming directly out of it, I'd say that it's more likely to be a chunky connector.

you're right, it could just as well be something else. I have no way to prove otherwise.

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

@alby da wolf  i hope so, but im not confident i think the devs are some lazy asses and they didnt want to even deal with motion. There is no reason why FPSs on PS3 are not incorparating motion control

^^

They'll wait for it to become mainstream across the various different platforms, for some of them it's laziness, for others it's lack of courage to be amongst the first. Action RPGs with realistic fighting would rock too.

Pretty cool (and long) article :)

I thought you wrote it at first lol, cuz I usually skip intros and jump right into the article

I agree with their last point the most (reliablity), I bought mine near launch and it still works great

I like some of the points posted here more, like the IR pointing thing, one of my favourite features of the Wii

Well considering how little power it has is that really suprising? xD

;D

Yeah i know my spelling sucks but im dysgraphic so live with it :3
