Forums - Gaming Discussion - The Witcher 2 vs. Portal 2

I also got the same copy from GOG! Brilliant game, never played it before! Portal 2 however... Hmmm... Much better than The Witcher 1 in my opinion. Haven't heard much of The Witcher 2 but will probably pick it up when I get the money. Saying that, I did immensly enjoy Portal 2 single player and co-op.

I wish you were right about that. But i have a feeling that EA may buy the award for rpgs with dragons age 2.

just don't watch spike tv's awards.

those are a joke anyway

AND any other site that even puts dragon age 2 on their list deserves to be ignored

I just picked up the first Witcher game on GoG for 5 bucks, and I'm loving it.  It's a ton of fun.  I'm also psyched the sequel is conveniently about to come out.  However, I face a dilemma.  Portal 2 just came out, and I want it as well.  However, I only want to buy one game (from a budget perspective).  The other will probably end up being picked up when it drops in price (i.e. Steam sale or something).

Which one should I get first?

If you have a PS3 you could pick up  Portal 2 at GameStop for $60 and get the Steam version free with it.

But the PC version is cheaper so if he doesn't want to play the PS3 version he might as well get the cheaper version.

Get the Witcher 2 simply for the reason that it will most likely have way more play time in it....Portal 2 will last you around 15-20 hours for everything. If Witcher 2 is anything like the first it will most likely be a 60 hour plus game.

Yeah, that's the biggest reason I'm leaning towards the Witcher.  I'm about to finish up chapter 2 at somewhere between 15-20 hours.  Seems like a ton of content.

Portal 2, on the other hand, I'll probably replay if it's anything like Portal.  Although, I don't know if I could get 60 hours out of it.

I like both genres a lot, and Portal's humor is making this a really difficult decision.

Yeah Portal 2 is awesome but unlike the original Portal their are no time trials to extend replayability and you can't do chapter selects in the single player campaign.

And as others have said Portal 2 has a better chance of getting to a lower price faster then Witcher 2.

That was pretty lame of Valve imo.

Yeah agreed. Hopefully they will include them in their free DLC down the road.

I actually just bought myself a somewhat high-end PC because I want to play The Witcher 2. So you can probably guess what my answer would be. The game just looks so awesome.

P.S.

I also bought the PC for BF3. But that doesn't come out until later.

Hi.

Are you me? Because you just said EXACTLY what I did two weeks ago. Word for word.
